Otto P. Frick
Mrs. E. M. RAGLAND, Lake Manitou, who has just returned from an extended visit out-of-town, today opened a message informing her of the death of Otto P. FRICK, which occurred in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Dec. 20th.
Mr. Frick for many years spent his vacations at his own cottage in the Bessmore Park addition at Lake Manitou. He was buried in the Frick plot in a cemetery at Salem, [Indiana].
He is survived by his wife, 8008 Westfield Blvd., Indianapolis; two daughters; a son and five grandchildren.
Bess Leffel
Mrs. Bess LEFFEL, 55, R.R. 4, Rochester, passed away at 8:00 a.m. today at the Rochester Nursing Home, where she had been a patient since December 28. She had been seriously ill for three months.
Mrs. Leffel had been a resident of the Rochester community for the past five years moving here from Cass county.
Bess, daughter of F. P. and Kitty (WELSH) McFADDEN was born May 22, 1897 in Ashland county, Ohio. On Sept. 11, 1915, she was married to Paul LEFFEL at Twelve Mile, Ind. Mrs. Leffel was a member of the Twelve Mile Bethlehem Methodist church; was past matron of the Fulton O.E.S. and was a member of Naomi Shrine of Logansport.
Surviving are the husband; two daughers, Mrs. Elmer BOZARD, Kokomo and Mrs. Don TILTON, Cass county; two granddaughters, Carol Sue BOZARD and Catherine TILTON; two sisters, Mrs. Martha FISCHER, Seattle,Wash. and Miss Lulu McFADDEN, Painesville, Ohio.
Final rites in charge of Rev. Howard CRESS, will be held Sunday 1:30 p.m. at the Ditmire Chapel, Fulton. Burial will be in the Bethlehem cemetery near Twelve Mile.
The Fulton O.E.S. chapter will conduct its services at the chapel 8 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at Ditmire funeral home.
Margaret Benedict
Mrs. Margaret BENEDICT, 56, who resided five miles south of Argos, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Hospital. She had been seriously ill for the past six weeks. All her life had been spent in the vicinity of Argos and the north portion of Fulton county.
A native of Marshall county, she was born May 23, 1896 to Clinton F. and Martha BODEY. She was married to Forest A. BENEDICT on Jan. 15, 1918. Mrs. Benedict was a member of the St. Paul E.U.B. church of Rochester.
Survivors are the husband, at home; a son, Charles E. [BENEDICT] and his wife, Eva L. and two grandchildren, Mary Kaye and Linda Lou [BENEDICT], all of Argos. A brother, Forest [BODEY], and a sister Inez [BODEY], preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Richland Center Methodist church. Rev. William A. HUGHES of Rochester, assisted by Rev. Mrs. Edith BRUNER, the Richland Center Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Richland Center I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Friends may call at the Grossman funeral home, from 7 p.m. this evening to 1 p.m. Sunday.
Laura Lee Miller
While visiting at the home of relatives in Wyandotte, Mich., Mrs. Laura Lee MILLER, 424 Grove street, Argos, passed away at 5 a.m. Thursday. Her death was caused by a heart seizure. Mrs. Miller had been a resident of Argos practically all of her life.
She was born Feb. 14, 1882, in Marshall county, the daughter of John and Alzina (WALLACE) FINNEY. On Nov. 30, 1899 she was married to Lester MILLER at Plymouth. Her husband preceded her in death in 1947. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Argos Christian church, the Philathia Class, Ladies Aid and the Whippoorwill Ladies Aid.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Alzina RICHENBACHER, Detroit; a son, Ormond [MILLER] at home; two sisters, Mrs. Effie KLINE, Culver and Mrs. Melvina FALVEY, South Bend.
Funeral services, in charge of Rev. J. Robert COOVERT, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Umbaugh funeral home, Argos. Burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery, Argos. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Edward Unger
Following a month’s illness Edward UNGER, 69, North Fulton Ave., this city, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Hospital. Mr. Unger had been a resident of this city for two years, coming here from Metea.
He was born March 17, 1883 in Wabash county to Emanuel and Ellen (CURTIS) UNGER. His first marriage was to Elizabeth HOOVER who preceded him in death on April 30, 1948. Later he was wed to Dora DOWDY, who survives.
Other survivors are: Four sons, Walter [UNGER], Lucerne; Eldon [UNGER], Twelve Mile; Paul [UNGER], Grand Rapids, Mich., and Ernest [UNGER], Detroit; four daughters, Lavonna SCHELEGAL, Detroit; Lois LANDON, Flint, Mich.; Bertha BUEACHER, Detroit and Helen COOPER, Peru; seventeen grandchildren and four sisters, Berthe COOPER, Bessie ANDERSON, both of Rochester; Eva SYLVESTER, Lagro, and Grace [UNGER], Fort Wayne.
Funeral services in charge of Rev. Kiah RAYL of the Assembly of God will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ditmire Chapel, Fulton. Burial will be in the Metea cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
Cecil Ray McVay
Harry McVAY, 210 North Main street, this city, received word early today of the death of his grandson, Cecil Ray “C.R.” McVAY, of McAllister, Texas. Mr. McVay, who was a Recruiting Officer in the Marine Corps stationed at McAllister, was fatally injured in an auto crash, which occurred at McAllister Friday evening.
C. R. McVAY, 28, was the son of Ray and Savola McVAY of Alice, Texas. As a child he spent several summers in Fulton County with his grandfather and also his uncle, Wilford GUISE.
Survivors include the parents; two brothers, Ensign Richart Lee McVAY, who is on sea duty aboard the U.S.S. Marquette; and Danny [McVAY], at home; one sister, Mrs. Norma Jean SCHACH of McAllen, Texas, and the grandfather, Harry McVAY. Mrs. Mary Alice OVERMYER of Rochester and Mrs. Ruth HITE of Kouts are aunts of the deceased.
C. R. and Richard Lee McVay, their father and an uncle, Ralph McVAY, of Oklahoma City visited relatives in Rochester last spring.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at the Charles Wilson Funeral Home at McAllister.

Hacel M. Tuttle
Miss Hazel Marie TUTTLE, 59, of the Fulton County Home, passed away at2 p.m. Sunday at the Rochester Nursing Home. She became seriously ill Christmas Day. She had een a resident of this community since April 29, 1915.
Hazel Marie, daughter of Miles and Esther KENDLE TUTTLE, was born June 17, 1893 in Liberty township.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. William HUGHES officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Citizens cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Infant Knotts
Brief services for the infant daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Slater KNOTTS were held Sunday afternoon. The infant was stillborn Saturday morning at the Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Interment was made in the Elwood city cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Foster Funeral Home.
James Allen Westwood
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Foster Funeral Home for James Allen, day-old son of Carl and Frances WESTWOOD. Rev. Stephen GUBI officiated and burial was made in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Surviving are the parents; a brother, Edward, and sister Evelyn, all at home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore BARTS, Mishawaka; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas WESTWOOD, R.R 4, Rochester; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Elmer OLINGER and a great-grandfather, Lester STUBBS, Leiters Ford.

Stephen Allen Cole
Final rites for Stephen Allen COLE, 15-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. COLE, this city, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Royal Center. The Rev. A. Ray NOLAND will officiate.
The child passed away at 5:30 a.m. Monday at the Northern Indiana Children’s Hospital, South Bend, following a month’s illness. He was born in Rochester, Sept. 28, 1951, to James R. and Margaret CONN COLE.
Surviving are the parents; a brother James; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Vera CONN, this city and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. COLE, Macy.
Mrs. Perry Moon
Rochester friends have received word of the death of Mrs. Perry MOON, Logansport, which occurred suddenly in St. Petersburg, Fla., Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon in Logansport.
Mrs. Moon was a sister of the late Mrs. Alice CLAYTON, this city, and of Frank YOUNG, Logansport.

Audrey G. Fenimore
Mrs. Audrey G. FENIMORE, 58, Lexington, Ky., died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn hospital. Mrs. Fenimore, former resident of Akron, had been in ill health for the past six months. The Fenimores moved from Akron to Kentucky 18 months ago.
A native of Fulton county, Mrs. Fenimore was born August 13, 1895, to C. V. and Hattie (BRYANT) KINDIG. In 1911 she was married to Forest R. FENIMORE at Rochester. She was a member of O. E. S. of North Judson and the Walter Hill Presbyterian church, Lexington, Ky.
Survivors are the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ferrell SCHUG, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Sonabelle BEAVERS, Lexington, Ky.; two sons, Ronald [FENIMORE], Akron; Vance [FENIMORE], Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Cecil JONES, South Bend; Mrs. Clarence MIKESELL, this city; five brothers, C. A., Oral and Roy KINDIG, all of Rochester; Cleon KINDIG, Macy, Calif.; Arnie KINDIG, Columbus, O., and nine grandchildren.
Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Akron Methodist church with the Rev. Claude FAWNS officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sheetz funeral home, Akron, until 11:30 a.m. Friday.
J. Henry Sommer
A pioneer resident of Miami county, J. Henry SOMMER, 94, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday at his home four miles south of Akron. He had been seriously ill for two months. Mr. Sommer, a retired farmer and veterinarian, had been a resident of Miami county for practically his entire life.
The son of John and Lunvira (FOLTZ) SOMMER was born February 2, 1858 in Allen county. He was married to Hattie ENGLEHEART on March 1, 1884, at Denver, Ind. Mr. Sommer was a member of the Lutheran church of Gilead, the Masonic Lodge since 1880 and was a charter member of the Gilead Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife, at home; two sons, Charles SOMMER, Peru; Fred SOMMER, Akron and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Moyer-Haupert funeral home, Akron. Burial will be in the Gilead cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday.
Arthur P. True
Funeral services for Arthur P. TRUE, 76, formerly of Rochester, were held this afternoon at Lisle, Ill. Mr. True passed away at his home in Lisle Sunday afternoon.
A retired railroader, he had been engaged in the grocery business for the past few years. He was the son of Newton and Samantha TRUE, of this city. A cousin, Fred TRUE, resides in Chicago.

G. Merritt Mackey
Following an illness of a month, George Merritt MACKEY, 82, of this city, died at 1:40 a.m. today at Woodlawn hospital. Mr. Mackey, a retired farmer, had been a resident of Fulton county his entire life.
He was born August 9, 1870, in Rochester. His parents were Horace C. and Lucy (DUNLAP) MACKEY. Mr. Mackey never married. He was a member of the Rochester I.O.O.F. Lodge.
Surviving are two brothers, Oren MACKEY, Whiting; Dr. C. Gleason MACKEY, Culver; two sisters, Mrs. Mary HOFFMAN and Mrs. Charlotte PALMER, both of this city, and several nieces and nephews.
Final rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home. Rev. W. D. ARCHIBALD, of Leiters Ford Methodist church, will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, here.

Alice V. Lambert
Mrs. Alice V. LAMBERT, 82, of near Twelve Mile, died Wednesday morning at her home after a lingering illness. Mrs. Lambert had a wide acquaintance of friends throughout the southern section of Fulton county.
She was born February 11, 1861, in Poe, Ind., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon SNYDER.
Survivors are the husband, Fred [LAMBERT]; three daughters, Mrs. D. T. DUNGAN, R.R. 1, Twelve Mile; Mrs. Roy MOORE, Chillicothe, Mo.; Mrs. Fred PRATT, of near Twelve Mile; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary MILLER, Twelve Mile; Mrs. Sally MERLEY, Akron; Mrs. Elizabeth KOTTERMAN, Macy and a brother, O.O. SNYDER, Akron.

Alice Downs
Funeral services for Mrs. C. L. DOWNS, who died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday at her home, 724 W. Broadway, Mishawaka, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Evangelical church, that city.
Mrs. Downs, who was born in Pulaski County was married to C. L. DOWNS on October 8, 1914 at Rochester. Her maiden name was Alice McCAY. She was a member of the Mishawaka First Evangelical church.

Mrs. Ralph Shaver
Mrs. James WARE of Kewanna has received news of the death of Mrs. Ralph SHAVER, Polo, Ill. The Shavers were residents of Union township for several years, residing on a farm which is now occupied by Robert HENDRICKSON and family.
Mrs. Shaver is survived by her husband and daughter Margaret [SHAVER].
Dr. Robert J. D. Peters
Funeral services were held in Indianapolis this afternoon for Dr. Robert J. D. PETERS, who passed away in his sleep Wednesday at his home 3203 East Michigan street, Indianapolis.
He was born in Macy on August 27, 1888, the son of Dr. and Mrs. John Benjamin PETERS. He was a graduate of Macy high school and the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Survivors include the widow and several nieces and nephews.

Opaleah M. Weaver
Mrs. Ray E. WEAVER, 46, R.R. 1, Roann, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at home. Her death was attributed to a heart ailment, from which she had suffered for the past two months. She had been a resident of the Roann community for 10 years, moving there from Deedsville.
Opaleah M., daughter of Edward and Matilda (BROWN) DEEDS, was borh December 6, 1906 at Deedsville. She was married to Ray E. WEAVER on July 8, 1942 at Denver. Mrs. Weaver was a member of Deedsville Ebenezer church.
Survivors are her husband; a sister, Mrs. Lucille PUGH, R.R. 2, Roann; three brothers, Guy DEEDS, Macy; Earl DEEDS, Deedsville; Dennis DEEDS, Rochester; three half-sisters, Mrs. Zoa KERSCHNER, Chili; Mrs. Floa BROWN, Denver; Mrs. Eva MATHIAS, Logansport, and a half-brother, Russell DEEDS, Milwaukee.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ebenezer church Deedsville, with the Rev. C. F. GOLDEN, Denver, officiating. Burial will be in the Laketon cemetery. Friends may call at the Sheetz funeral home, Akron, until noon Tuesday.
Edna May Burns
A verdict of accidental death in the shooting of Mrs. Edna May BURNS, 29, Dec. 4, 1952, has been returned by Dr. Dean K. STINSON, Fulton County Coroner.
The verdict was returned after Dr. Stinson had received a report on a ballistics test made on the gun in the state crime laboratories in Indianapolis.
It is believed that Mrs. Burns received the
fatal blast from the gun when it was discharged after she had dropped it in her
home near Akron.

Zora Blacketor
Mrs. Zora (STANLEY) BLACKETOR, 63, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at her home, 1412 College avenue, this city. She had been bedfast for the past three years. Mrs. Blacketor had been a resident of Fulton county most of her life and moved to Rochester from the Kewanna vicinity.
She was born October 2, 1889, in Fayette county, Indiana. Her parents were Franklin and Ada (RETHERFORD) STANLEY. In March of 1911 she was married to Kline BLACKETOR, Sr., at Rochester. Mrs. Blacketor was a member of the Baptist church of Kewanna.
Those surviving are the husband, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Byron GINN; three sons, Francis, Kline, Jr., and Raymond [BLACKETOR], all of Rochester; four brothers and sis sixters: Glen STANLEY, Rochester; Russell and Nathan STANLEY, Elwood; Victor, Falmouth; Mrs. Clifford BAGGERLY and Mrs. Marion MURDEN, Rochester; Mrs. Thurman COOK, Logansport; Mrs. Loyd WERNER, Peru; Mrs. Harvey DAVIS, Elwood, and Mrs. Wilbur FRALING, Peru, and three grandchildren. A daughter, Nila Jean [BLACKETOR], two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held in the Rochester Baptist church at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Rev. Harry J. BAILEY and Rev. H. Gordon HYDE will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home.
Elmer M. Newcomb
Elmer M. NEWCOMB, 76, well-known farmer of the Woodrow neighborhood died at 12:30 p.m. He had been in failing health since February 1952.
Mr. Newcomb had been a resident of Woodrow community for 61 years, coming there from Marshall county. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Carl and James G. [NEWCOMB], of this city and a daughter, Mrs. Paul MYERS, also of Rochester.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Baptist church. A complete obituary report will be published in Thursday edition of The News-Sentinel.

Elmer M. Newcomb
Funeral services for Elmer M. NEWCOMB, R.R. 1, Rochester, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rochester Baptist church with Rev. H. Gordon HYDE and Rev. Harry J. BAILEY officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the Newcomb home in the Woodrow neighborhood. Mr. Newcomb, who died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, was born March 13, 1876 in Marshall county. His parents were Edwin A. and Katherine (SHONK) NEWCOMB. He was married to Effie BLACKETOR on March 17, 1897 at Macy, Ind. Mr. Newcomb attended the Rochester Baptist church and was active in Farm Bureau work.
He had been a resident of the Woodrow community for over three score of years and had many friends throughout Rochester and Fulton county.
Survivors are his wife, at home; two sons, Carl NEWCOMB and James G. “Doc”
NEWCOMB, and a daughter, Mrs. Paul MYERS, all of this city; a sister, Mrs. Hattie BISHOP, Bellingham, Wash., six grandchildren: Edwin, Karl, Joan and Marcia NEWCOMB and William MYERS, all of Rochester, and Mrs. Eddie SNYDER, Lincoln, Ill.; and two great-granchildren, Lyman and Leonard SNYDER, Lincoln, Ill.
Two sons, Leonard and Floyd NEWCOMB, preceded their father in death.
Charles L. Cooper
Charles L. COOPER, 69, 112 E. 10th street, this city, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Joseph DYSON, of Clearwater, Fla. Mr. Cooper suffered a stroke the forepart of last week and failed to rally. He and his wife left Rochester December 31 for a visit with the Dysons in Clearwater.
Mr. Cooper was born May 18, 1883. For over 35 years he was employed by the Nickel Plate railroad and resided in Argos. He moved to Rochester a few years ago and worked for the Indiana Metal Products Company until his retirement.
He was a member of the Rochester Methodist church; a past master and past patron of the Argos Mason and O.E.S. lodges and also a member of the Marshall County Association of Actual Past Masters.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ella H. (WALL) COOPER, of this city; a sister, Mrs. Joseph DYSON, Clearwater Fla., and four grandchildren. Three children, Charles [COOPER], Jr., Washington, D.C.; Louis [COOPER], Chicago and Mrs Elinor MATHIA, Plymouth, preceded their father in death.
The body accompanied by Mrs. Cooper will arrive in Argos at noon Friday. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the Grossman funeral home after 7 p.m. Friday.

Louisa Huff
Mrs. Louisa HUFF, 88, 217 North Michigan street, Argos, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sherman Nursing Home, Plymouth. She had been a patient there for two weeks. Her death was caused by a heart ailment.
Mrs. Huff was a member of the Argos Methodist church. Her husband, Alfred HUFF, preceded her in death October 26, 1940.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Zola DOBSON, Baltimore, Md.; a son, Dale HUFF, Oakland, Cal., and four grandchildren.

Final rites for Mrs. Louisa HUFF, who died at Plymouth Thursday evening, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Umbaugh funeral home, Argos. Rev. Allen B. RICE, Argos Methodist church, will be in charge of the services and burial will be in the Buck cemetery, Plymouth.

Amanda Bunn
Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda BUNN, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Leiters Ford Methodist church. Rev. Herman ADAMS, Hobart, will officiate and burial will be in the Leiters cemetery.
Mrs. Bunn died Thursday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rhoda KURTZ, 623 N. Butrick St., Waukegan, Ill., where she had made her home for the past six years.
She was born in Mansfield, O., December 18, 1865, the daught er of Thomas and Lucinda EASTERDAY. Her parents moved to Indiana when she was quite young and her entire life was spent in the vicinity of Leiters Ford. Her husband, Charles BUNN, preceded her in death on March 17, 1935, and a daughter, Mrs. Lucretia SANNS, in December, 1933.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Rhoda KURTZ, Waukegan, Ill., and Mrs. Madge WAGONER, Plymouth; a sister, Mrs. Charles NEWCOMER, this city; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Pearl Plank
Rochester relatives late Monday evening received word of the death of Mrs. Donald C. PLANK, Sr., which occurred in Brownsville, Texas, around 7:30 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Plank suffered a heart seizuer and died almost instantly while riding in the family automobile with Mr. Plank. Prior to this fatal attack she had been enjoying her usual good health.
The Planks, who reside in their home on Koffel’s Point, Lake Manitou, left here several weeks ago to spend the winter months in Brownsville.
Mrs. Plank, the former Pearl BARRETT, had been a resident of this city throughout her entire life and was active in both religious and social affairs of the city and county. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abner J. BARRETT.
In 1940, she was married to Donald C. PLANK, Sr., of this city. Mrs. Plank was a member of the Rochester Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star, this city.
Survivors are the husband; a brother, John BARRETT, this city; a nephew, Barrett IRVIN, Culver, and several cousins who reside in South Bend.
Mr. Plank entrained from Brownsville today with the body and is expected to arrive in Rochester Thursday.

T. P. Cook
Dr. T. P. COOK, well-known veterinarian, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home, 403 E. 13th street, this city. Dr. Cook suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon and failed to rally.
His death came as shock to his wide acquaintance of friends throughout the city and county, as previously he had been in his usual good health.
He was prominently known throughout the midwest sulky horse racing circuit and was owner of “Dr. Broo,” a pacer which had won many races in county and state fairs in Indiana and ajoining states.
Theodore Purdy COOK was born April 30, 1882, in the Green Oak community, southeast of Rochester. His parents were Del and Marthia (SHEETS) COOK. He was a graduate of the Indiana Veterinarians’ College, Indianapolis, in 1911. Following his graduation, he practiced in Illinois for two years and then returned to Rochester, where he has since resided. Dr. Cook was appointed Deputy State Veterinarian in 1949.
He was married to Goldie HOPPER, May 3, 1929 at Wabash.
Survivors are his wife, at home; a sister, Mrs. Ethel NEWMAN, R.R. 6, Rochester; a niece and five nephews, Erma and Fred CLINGER, Shoshone, Idaho; Maurice, Ernest, Donald and Oren NEWMAN, all of this city.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rochester Baptist church with Rev. H. Gordon HYDE officiating. The body will be placed to rest in the Rochester mausoleum.
The body was removed at 5 p.m. today from the Zimmerman Bros. funeral home to the residence, where friends may call.
Bert Slonaker
Bert SLONAKER, 72, farmer of near Monterey, suffered a stroke while at work Monday afternoon and died within 90 minutes. He was assisting in the butchering of a hog for Mrs. Emma NORMAN when he was stricken.
Born Octoer 7, 1881, he was the son of Isaac and Martha MAHLER SLONAKER.
He is survived by his wife and several children and also a brother, Leonard SLONAKER, north of Rochester.

Mrs. Edith L. JONES, 57, route 1, Macy, died 8:45 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital, where she had been a patient for past eight weeks.
She was born Sept. 28, 1895, in Miami County to Samuel D. and Minnie M. (DAY) ORR. On Sept. 22, 1916, she was married to Martin L. JONES, at Peru. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Perrysburg Baptist church and the Mission Circle.
Survivors are the husband, at home; a daughter, Emmaloo CASKEY, this city and a grandson, Ricky [CASKEY].
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. at the

A change in plans for the final rites of Mrs. Donald C. PLANK, Sr. were announced today by the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home. The services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Christian Church with Rev. Grant BLACKWOOD officiating. It had previously been announced that the rites would be held at the funeral home.
The body will arrive at 8 p.m. Friday evening and will be taken to the Zimmerman home, where it will lie in state until the hour of the services.

Charles Foster
Rochester relatives late Friday evening received word of the death of Charles “Chuck” FOSTER, 38, 1216 College avenue, which occurred Friday afternoon at Groveland, Fla. Details have not been received but it is believed he was the victim of a heart attack.
Mr. and Mrs. Foster, left for a Florida vacation last week, pulling a trailer belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Otis HAGEN. The Hagens had planned to accompany them but illness prevented their departure. Mrs. Foster, the former Marie BRYANT of this city, is a sister of Mrs. Hagen.
The Fosters arrived in Groveland January 17.
A native of Warsaw, Foster for the past few years has been employed in carpentry work with Charles POWERS of this city. Prior to that he was a truck driver for Joe Van DALSEN, Macy. Mrs. Foster is employed at the Boston Store, this city.
Surviving are his wife, his father; a son by a previous marriage and several sisters, all of Warsaw.

Edgar Metheny
Edgar METHENY, 84, died at 11 a.m. Saturday at his home, 401 E. Walnut street, Argos. He had been seriously ill for the past two weeks. Mr. Metheny, who was co-owner of the Argos Telephone Company for many years, had spent his entire life in Marshall county.
He was born November 2, 1868, on a farm, near Bourbon to Andrew and Cynthia (PIERSON) METHENY. In 1895 he was married to Clara PLATT, who died in 1911. His second marriage was to Maude Grace WILLIAMS on Sept. 15, 1951. Mr. Metheny was a member of the Argos Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Howard KNEPER, Plymouth; Mrs. Ronald SPITLER, Argos; ten grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Edith HAND, Lakeland, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Argos Methodist church. Rev. Allen B. RICE will officiate and burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery, Argos. Friends may call at the funeral home until noon Tuesday.

Funeral services for Stuart PENDLETON, 79, Leiters Ford, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home, with the Rev. George CRANE officiating. Burial will be in the Leiters Ford cemetery.
Mr. Pendleton, who had been a resident of Leiters Ford for the past 15 years, died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the Stansbury nursing home, this city.
He had been in failing health for nine years and critically ill for three weeks.
He was born March 18, 1873 in Iowa and in 1938 was married to Gertrude CRINER BRUNICON. He was employed as a Raleigh products salesman and formerly resided at Bruce Lake.

Frederick Sidmore
Rochester friends have received word that funeral rites for Frederick SIDMORE, 43, formerly of this city, were held last Friday at Jackson, Mich. Mr. Sidmore died following major surgery the forepart of last week.
He was the son of Mrs. Della SIDMORE, a former resident of Rochester. He owned and operated a Super Market in Jackson for several years.

John R. Bryant
John R. BRYANT, 59, died at 11:15 a.m. today at his home 425 West 4th street, this city. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He had been in failing health for four years. A retired farmer, he had resided in Fulton county throughout his entire life.
He was born June 9, [1893], to John F. and Eliza LAREMORE BRYANT. He was married to Meda BERNARD on July 29, 1919. For several years he was engaged in farming in the vicinity of Athens.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Kenneth [BRYANT]; a daughter Eileen KALEY, all of Rochester; three brothers, Clinton [BRYANT], Gary; Wesley [BRYANT], LaPorte; Ted [BRYANT], Arcola, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Grace KAISER, Rome City, Ind., and six grandchildren. Two brothers and two sistes preceded in death.

Lewis A. Foor
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Johns Funeral Home at Mentone for Lewis A. FOOR, 84, lifelong resident of the Macy and Mentone community. He died Saturday evening at the Masonic Home in Franklin where he had resided for the past five years. He had been ill for the past three years with a heart ailment.
Mr. Foor was born in Macy and was first married to Cora STETSON in 1888. She died in 1936. In 1938, he married Mrs. Amy DAVIS, who died in 1946.
Surviving are a son, Ben FOOR of Rome City, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bessie YOCUM of Washington and Mrs. Maude OUTTANK, Desmoines, Ia., two stepsons, Hugh LYONS of Des Moines, and Walter LYONS of Oklahoma; a grandson and two great-grandchildren. Burial was made in the Macy cemetery.

Funeral services for Miss Ethel BRIGHT, 68, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Moyer-Haupert funeral home, Akron. Miss Bright died at 10 p.m. Wednesday in the Allison nursing home, five miles east of Warsaw, where she had been a patient for 18 months.
She was the daughter of John and Minerva BRYANT and for several years resided in the Lincoln community. No close relatives survive. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha (GANGWER) BASSLER THOMAS, Grass Creek, who died Thursday morning at Woodlawn hospital will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Metea Baptist church. Burial will be in the Metea cemetery.
Bertha, daughter of Tillman and Susan GANGWER, was born Sept. 6, 1871 in Tiffin, O. Her first marriage was to Frederick BASSLER, who died in 1929. She was later wed to Melvin THOMAS, who preceded her in death in 1948.
Survivors include several children, grandchildren, sistes and brothers.

Worden Reser
Worden RESER, 53, night manager of the Rose Dale Motel, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday at his home in We-Like-It Trailer Court, Lake Manitou. His death, which came suddenly, was attributed to a heart attack. He had been in failing health for the past eight months.
Mr. Reser and family had been residents of Rochester for four months, coming here from Laurelton, Long Island, N.Y.
He was born May 24, 1899, at Milford, Pa., to James and Carolyn (STEELE) RESER. On August 2, 1918, he was married to Marie Lillian THORNTON at Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Reser was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post No. 36 of this city.
Surviving are his wife, at home; two sons, Charles W. and James W. [RESER], both of Rochester; and two daughters, Mrs. Laurice WAGNER, of Long Island, N.Y., and Miss Carol RESER, of this city.
Short prayer services will be held 6:30 p.m. today at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral

Lauretta Faye Becker
Mrs. Lauretta Faye BECKER, 67, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday at her home, 208 E. Walnut street, Argos. Deth came suddenly from a heart seizure, but she had been in ill health for over a year. She had resided in Argos and Plymouth throughout her entire live.
A native of Marshall county, she was born July 4, 1885, at Plymouth to Richard and Addie McGRIFF. On March 31, 1910, she was married to William F. BECKER at Plymouth. Mrs. Beckeer was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Survivors are the husband; a daughter, Mrs. Louise PERSHING, Argos; three sons, Richard and Robert [BECKER], both of Argos; Gilbert [BECKER], Plymouth; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son and a daughter died in infancy.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grossman funeral home, Argos. Rev. Harry CLAYBAUGH of Argos, assisted by Rev. Ernest TREBER, of Darlington, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
Thomas R. Haimbaugh
Funeral services for Thomas R. HAIMBAUGH, 80, retired farmer of Mentone who died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Reed Funeral home, Mentone. Rev. Milton DOUD will officiate and burial will be in the Mentone cemetery. Mr. Haimbaugh had been in failing health for several years.
He was born in Fulton county on January 10, 1873, to Conrad and Sarah (KING) HAIMBAUGH. On April 11, 1900 he was married to Leona BLUE. He was a member of the Mentone Baptist church.
Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Linnie VERNETT, Mentone; and several nieces and nephews, including Lester ROGERS, of this city. His wife preceded him in death in October, 1951. Mr. and Mrs. Lester ROGERS will attend the services.
Selma Jefvert
Mrs. Selma JEFVERT, of Fowler, died Sunday afternoon at the St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette. She had been seriously ill for five weeks.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Sophia HENNING, R.R. 1, this city, a niece, Mrs. Alfreda DeWEESE, R.R. 1, and a nephew, Rudolph HENNING, South Bend.
Funeral services will be held in the Fowler Presbyterian church, 2 p.m. Wednesday.
William H. Drumhiller
Rochester friends have received word of the death of William H. DRUMHILLER, 79, which occurred last Friday at his home in Mishawaka. Final rites were held Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Drumhiller is survived by his wife, the
former Myrtle HENDERSON of this city.
Mrs. Drumhiller is ill with influenza and was unable to attend the
services.

Isabelle Graham
Arthur METZLER was called to Lincoln, Neb., today by the death of his sister, Mrs. Isabelle (METZLER) GRAHAM, who passed away Monday at 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Graham was born in 1871 at Urbana, Ind.
Mrs. Graham was reared in Urbana and Rochester. She graduated from the Rochester High School and taught in the grades here for several years. She was the daughter of Dr. John B. METZLER and Anna Marie METZLER who moved to the United States from Germany.
Isabelle Metzler was married to John O. GRAHAM who preceded her in death. Mr. Graham was a brother of Mrs. Norman STONER of Rochester. Mr. Graham was associated with Beyer Brothers a former Rochester business firm for many years. Later he moved to Lincoln, Neb., where he was a director of the Standard Oil Company of Nebraska.
Mrs. Graham is survived by her brother, Arthur Metzler, two nieces, Mrs. Kenneth SWANSON, and Mrs. Marjory METZLER KING, her nephew, Jerry METZLER, two sisters-in-law Mrs. Herman METZLER, and Mrs. Norman STONER.
Services will be conducted at Lincoln, Neb., and graveside services will be held in Rochester. The Reverend Charles Merrill SMITH will conduct the graveside services at a date which will be announced.
George W. Carter
George William CARTER, 59, R.R. 3, Rochester, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn hospital from a heart ailment. He had been in failing health for six months and critically ill for a week. Mr. Carter had been a resident of this community for two years, coming here from Indianapolis.
Born at Pendleton on February 20, 1893, he was the son of Ebenezer and Mary CARTER. He was married to Irene TUCKER on April 15, 1917. A retired florist, Mr. Carter was a member of the Izaak Walton League of Indianapolis and the Hunting and Fishing Club of that city.
Survivors are his wife, at home; three sons, Gene CARTER, St. Louis; Jack W. CARTER and George R. CARTER, both at home, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster funeral home. Rev. Paul TRUMBAUER, Talma Methodist church, will officiate and burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Lillian Heltzel
Mrs. Lillian HELTZEL, 70, who resided three miles south of Akron, died at 4 a.m. today at Woodlawn hospital. She became critically ill Tuesday evening and failed to rally after her removal to the hospital. Mrs. Heltzel had been a resident of Henry township her entire life.
She was born Sept. 8, 1882, in Fulton county to Samuel and Martha (STINSON) DAWSON. On February 3, 1907, she was married to Elmer HELTZEL. Mrs. Heltzel was a member of the Gilead Methodist church and the Perry Twp. Home Ec club.
Survivors are the husband at home and the following children: Col. William HELZEL, Canal Zone; Marvin [HELTZEL], Akron; Mrs. Amy SISULAK, Riverside, Ill.; Dr. Arthur
HELTZEL, Hopinnsville, Ky.; Mrs. Ethel MILLER, Logansport; Major Lester HELTZEL, Washington, D.C. and Gordon [HELTZEL], at home. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth CARR, Argos; Mrs. Gladys CHAMBERS, Corvalis, Wash., and four brothers, John and Frank DAWSON, Akron and S. D. and Paul DAWSON, both of Logansport. A son, David [HELTZEL], was killed in action during World War II.

Lucille Campbell
Mrs. Mable McINTIRE of Lake Manitou today received word of the death of Mrs. Lucille CAMPBELL, which occurred at her home in Tempe, Arizona, January 29.
Mrs. Campbell’s husband, Paul [CAMPBELL], was the director of a dance orchestra which played at the Colonial Hotel pavilion for several summers, during World War II. For the past few years the Campbells owned and operated a motel at Tempe.

Clara Louise Rhodes
Mrs. Clara Louise RHODES, a pioneer resident of this city, died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday at her home, 113 E. Tenth street. Mrs. Rhodes had been in ill health since she suffered a fall last November and injured her shoulder. She had been a patient in Woodlawn hospital for several weeks and was dismissed to return to her residence January 6.
She was born near Macy on January 28, 1862, the daughter of Frederick and Susanna (ZIMMERMAN) HOFFMAN. Her husband, Dr. Eden E. RHODES and a son, Cyril [RHODES], preceded her in death. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Rochester Eastern Star lodge, the Victoria Reading Circle and the Rochester Woman’s Club.
Survivors are a son, Fred RHODES, Ithaca, N.Y., who is a professor at Cornell University; a brother, Fred HOFFMAN, Long Beach, Cal., one granddaughter, and one great-grandchild. A brother, Dr. George Edgar HOFFMAN, of this city, preceded her in death November 7, 1951.

Rochester and Kewanna relatives have received word of the death of Mrs. H. A. BRIGHT, which occurred Saturday evening at her home, 823 South Mariposa street, Los Angeles. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon and burial was in a Los Angeles cemetery.
Mrs. Bright’s maiden name was Pearl LEITER. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli LEITER and the family resided in Kewanna for several years.
Survivors are her husband, [Homer A.] BRIGHT, formerly of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. Grace (LEITER) ECHART, of Los Angeles; and Mrs. Olive (LEITER) COATS, of Oakland, Cal. A brother, Arthur LEITER of Connersville preceded her in death.

Alvina Sinclair
Mrs. [Alvina SEBASTIAN] SINCLAIR, 57, a native of Austria, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the Rochester Nursing home. Mrs. Sinclair resided on R.R. 1, Argos. The Sinclairs have been residents of Marshall county for 20 years, coming there from Chicago.
She was born July 10, 1895 in Austria and came with her parents, Joseph and Caroline SEBASTIAN, to Chicago when quite young. On July 1, 1916 she was married to David A. SINCLAIR. She was a member of the Roman Catholic church.
Survivors are her husband, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Caroline GARDNER, Argos; two sisters and five brothers: Mrs. Frances BREWSTER, Mrs. Harriett LARSON, Rudolph, James, John, Leo and Edward SEBASTIAN, all of Chicago. A sister and a brother preceded her in death.

James Carpenter, Sr.
James CARPENTER, Sr., 62, former resident of Pulaski county, died Friday evening at his home in Royal Center after a month’s illness. He was born December 14, 1890, on a farm near Winamac.
On Sept. 21, 1910, he was married to Ethel EAKER. His parents were Richard and Emma CARPENTER.
Surviving are two sons, Charles and James [CARPENTER], R.R. 3, Kewanna; two sisters, Mrs. Mary ZIMMERMAN, Kewanna; Mrs. G. HARDING, Cookerville, Tenn., and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday
at the Paul Harrison funeral home, Kewanna.

Carl E. Duncan
An Indianapolis man, Carl E. DUNCAN, 52, was injured fatally at 2:10 o’clock Sunday morning when his car skidded off icy U.S. 31 and struck a utility pole, nine miles north of Rochester.
He died in a Zimmerman Brothers ambulance en route to City Hospital, Indianapolis. He was first taken to Woodlawn Hospital here and was being transferred to Indianapolis when he died, at 9:30 o’clock Sunday morning.
Death was attributed to a collapsed lung and spine injuries. Several vertebrae were crushed and he also suffered a possible skull fracture when he was pinned beneath the overturned car.
Ted KRIZMAN, South Bend, told investigating officers that he was forced off the road by Duncan who was attempting to pass another car on a hill four miles south of Argos. It was snowing at the time and there was a film of snow on the highway.
Duncan, an employee of the Clemans Truck Lines, Inc., was returning to Indianapolis after visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward R. DUNCAN, in Buchanan, Mich.
He was a native of Bloomington. Surviving are the widow, Lena [DUNCAN]; three daughters and a son.
Investigating officers were State Troopers Wayne JORDAN and Harold LEWIS and Marshall County Deputy Sheriff Richard WOOLRIDGE.
Dr. Alfred J. Decker
Rochester friends have received word of the death of Dr. A. J. DECKER, optometrist, which occurred last week at his home in Newton, Iowa.
Alfred J. DECKER was born in Rochester, November 12, 1883. His parents were Oscar R. and Bianca DECKER. The elder Decker, who was of Swiss descent, was a watchmaker and for several years owned and operated a jewelry and watch-making business in this city.
Dr. Decker is survived by his widow and a brother Max DECKER, of Chicago.
Final rites were held last Wednesday afternoon in the St. Stephens chuch and burial was in a Newton, Iowa, cemetery.
Mary Garver
Miss Mary Matilda “Mata” GARVER, 73, was found dead in bed at 7 a.m. Sunday by her sister, Mrs. Alda McGRIFF, with whom she made her home five miles southwest of Argos. Dr. Otis BOWEN, coroner, of Bremen, who was called pronounced death was due to a heart seizure.
Miss Garver had spent her entire life in the vicinity of Argos with the exception of 10 years in Fort Wayne, where she was employed by the General Electric Company.
She was born December 27, 1879 at Burr Oak, Ind., to William and Melissa GARVER. Miss Garver was a member of the Richland Center Methodist church.
Survivors are her sister, Mrs. Alda McGRIFF, a broher George GARVER, both of R.R. 3, Argos; three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday
at the Grossman funeral home, Argos.

Val Poffenbarger
Val POFFENBARGER, 48, former resident of this city, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday in the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He suffered a heart attack while shoveling snow on Jan. 29, at his home in Monon, Ind., and was removed to the Lafayette hospital.
Mr. Poffenbarger left Rochester in 1924 to manage an A & P store in Monon. In 1947 he opened up his own supermarket in that city.
He was born February 14, 1904, in Fulton county. His parents were Clarence POFFENBARGER, of this city and Mrs. Lula BAKER of Lafayette. He ws married to Lillian HOWELL. Mr. Poffenbarger was a member of the Masonic Order.
Surviving are his parents; his wife, two daughters, Carol and Kay and a son Phillip [POFFENBARGER], all at home, and a sister, Mrs. Marjory YEAGER, of Lafayett.

Funeral services for James H. “Jay” WILSON, 65, Leiters Ford, were held this afternoon at the Bubb Chapel, Mishawaka.
Mr. Wilson died Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis MOORE, R.R. 2, Osceola, following an eight weeks’ illness.
He had been a resident of Leiters Ford for five years, moving there from Mishawaka. Until his last illness he had been employed by the Studebaker Corporation in South Bend. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Mishawaka.
Surviving is his widow, the fomer Louise WUNDERLICH.

James O. CLEMANS, 74, farmer, residing near Macy, seven miles southwest of Akron, died at 3 p.m. Thursday at the home of his son, Herbert [CLEMANS]. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He had been a resident of Miami county throughout his entire life.
He was born November 29, 1878 in Miami county to Thomas and Samantha (BRYANT) CLEMANS. In 1898 he was married to Mary HONOR. Mr. Clemans was a member of the Macy Methodist church. Surviving is the son, Herbert, R.R. 1, Akron, and two grandchildren.

Oliver BORDEN, 84, of the Loyal community, died Friday afternoon in a Logansport hospital where he had been a patient for the past two years. He resided in Fulton county for a number of years where he ws engaged in farming until ill health forced his retirement.
His wife, formerly Sarah WALLACE, preceded in death in 1942.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ed CLAYBURN and Mrs. Chloe SHIVLEY, both of Rochester; Mrs Pauline DUNTON, Benton Harbor, Mich.; a son, Joseph BORDEN, Logansport and two brothers, Frank BORDEN of Illinois and Ed BORDEN, Pennville, Ind.

Mrs. Emma THOMPSON, 92, died at 10:45 a.m. today at her home, 316 Jay street, this city. She had been a resident of Rochesrter for 16 years, coming here from Macy.
She was born April 30, 1860 in Ohio to David and Mary (ENGLE) FEECE. On April 16, 1887, she was married to Charles C. THOMPSON, who died April 2, 1931. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Athens E. U. B. church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth NORRIS, this city; two brothers, Lewis FEECE, North Liberty, and Encee FEECE, Rochester; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Frank M. Palmer
Funeral services for Frank M. PALMER, 63, well-known stock buyer of Macy, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Macy Christian church. Rev. Leland PAUL, pastor of the church, will officiate and burial will be in the Plainview cemetery, west of Macy.
Mr. Palmer died in his sleep at 5 p.m. Saturday from a heart seizure. He had gone to his room upstairs a short time prior to the attack to take a rest. Mr. Palmer was a lifelong resident of that community. He served as postmaster at Macy for eight years.
Born April 25, 1889, in Logansport, he was the son of John and Mahala (SMILEY) PALMER. On December 19, 1907, he was married to Edna HATCH. Mr. Palmer was a member of the Christian church of Macy.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, W. V. PALMER, Peru; Richard J. PALMER, Detroit; five daughters, Mrs. Joe DOLCE, Chicago; Mrs. Don HAGENBUSH, Argos; Mrs. Lon ROBERTS, Chicago and Mrs. Don NEAL, Logansport; seven grandchildren; two sister, Mrs. J. M. BRACKETT, Peru and Mrs. Lyman BUNNELL, Beloit, Wis.; and a brother, John PALMER, Wabash.

Emile “Pop” Martin
Emile “Pop” MARTIN, 64, former owner of “The Brass Rail” cafe in this city, died Saturday morning in a hospital in Wickerburg, Ariz. He suffered a stroke of paralysis several days ago and remained in a coma until his death. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
A native of France, he came to the United States when a small boy with his parents. For a number of years, he resided in Kokomo where he operated The Martin Hotel and also a funeral home.
About a score of years ago he came to Rochester where he owned The Colonial Hotel and later the Lakeview Hotel at Lake Manitou. Martin also operated the Hawkins Cafe and later “The Brass Rail.”
The latter he sold last fall and soon afterward moved to Arizona where he sought to improve his failing health. A few months ago he purchased a restaurant in Wickerburg, which he owned at the time of his death.
During World War I, Martin served as interpreter for the late General John PERSHING during a great portion of that conflict. At the time he received his discharge he was a captain and held that rank in the Kokomo National Guard unit.
For a number of years he owned and operated a number of dance bands and for a time served as a director as well as a featured soloist.
He was married three times, first to Miss Alta MILLER at Kokomo, and later to Mrs. Minnie HAWKINS of this city, both of whom preceded him in death. In the summer of 1952 he was married to Mrs. Elsie GROSS of Akron. She survives, as do a daughter at Kokomo and four grandchildren.
He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic church and the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post of this city.
Martin’s daughter was called to his bedside the
fore part of last week and Mrs. Howard HUNTER, Akron, daughter of Mrs. Martin,
also went to Wickerburg upon receiving word of his critical condition.

L. L. Aker
Mr. and Mrs. Ora STEPHEN, of this city, have been called to Portland, Ind., by the death of her brother, L. L. AKER, who died at 12:15 a.m. today in a Bluffton hospital after undergoing surgery.
Mr. Aker was well-known to many Rochester residents, having visited here on numerous occasions.
He is survived by his wife, eight children, five sisters and two brothers, all of Portland, with the exception of a brother who is serving with the armed forces in Korea. He owned and operated a plumbing and heating shop in Portland for many years.
Pauline Emmons
A committal service was held in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery at 2:45 plm. today for Mrs. Pauline EMMONS, 39, of South Bend, who died Saturday night in the Memorial hospital that city.
Her husband, James EMMONS, operated a meat market in Rochester for a number of years. Mrs. Emmons was born in Fairhope, Pa., June 29, 1913, and had resided in South Bend since 1936.
She is survived by her husband; her father, John GATES, Sr., Grand Rapids, Mich.; three sisters and a brother.

Arthur C. Nye
Arthur C. NYE, 68, former resident of Akron, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph hospital, Michawaka, where he had been a patient for three days. Mr. Nye had been a resident for 30 years of South Bend, where he was employed by the Bendix Corporation.
He was born Nov. 24, 1884, at Akron. His parents were Isiah and Ellen (CLEVENGER) NYE. In 1905 he was married to Ethel BRADWAY, who survives.
Other survivors are five [sic] children: Louis, Kenneth and Raymond NYE; Mrs. Thelma MILLER and aight grandchildren, all of Akron.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Moyer-Haupert funeral home in Akron. Rev. Hubert JOHNSON and Rev. D. L. SLAYBAUGH will officiate. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery.

Mrs. Ella Mae ANDERSON, 73, died at 6:15 Wednesday evening at her home, 117 West Third street, this city. She had been seriously ill for six months. Prior to her residency in Rochester, Mrs. Anderson lived in the Burton community.
She was born September 8, 1879, in Ohio to Joseph W. and Martha HOWARD. She was married to William H. ANDERSON on October 30, 1896. He preceded her in death in 1946.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Baptist church of Rochester and the Burton Home Economics club.
Survivors are four sons and a daughter: D. C. ANDERSON, Guy W. ANDERSON, Leroy ANDERSON and Howard ANDERSON, all of Rochester; Mrs. Lucie SEE, Macy; thirteen grandchildren and sisteen great-grandchildren. A son, Dale [ANDERSON], preceded her in death.

The Zimmerman Brothers funeral home received a telegram today from the Wickenburg funeral, Wickenburg, Ariz., stating that the body of Emile “Pop” MARTIN, former Rochester resident, is being returned to Rochester. It will arrive on the 8 o’clock train over the Erie Railroad Sunday evening. Mr. Martin died in Wickenburg last Saturday morning.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
Clarence L. Morrett
Clarence L. MORRETT, 80, retired farmer, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frienda MILLER of Akron. He had been in ill health for 18 months. Mr. Morrett had been a resident of Henry township for 77 years.
He was born January 8, 1873, at Harrisburg, Pa. His parents were Samuel and Elizabeth (GROSS) MORRETT. In 1891 he was married to Orpha HART, who preceded in death in 1939.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Clyde KING and Mrs. Frienda MILLER, both of Akron; Mrs. Harry CRAIG, Toledo, Ohio; Miss Anna MORRETT, Logansport; two sons, Wilbur [MORRETT], Akron; Carl [MORRETT], Toledo; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Tressie BARRETT, Los Angeles, Cal. Marion F. MARTIN, 80, was found dead in bed this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul FLOOR, a mile east of Disko, where he had made his home for the past two years. Death is believed to have been caused by a heart seizure.
He was born September 11, 1872, in Wabash county to Frederick and Lydia (KREIGHBAUM) MARTIN. He was married to Pearl LAUTZENHISER who preceded him in death in 1936. Mr. Martin was formerly employed by the Erie Railroad. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, of Wabash.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Orvan FLOOR, Akron; Mrs. Paul FLOOR, Disko; Mrs. Wilbur KREAMER, Dixon, Ill.; a son, Marion MARTIN, Jr., Wabash; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three brothers, George and Charles [MARTIN], Laketon, Fred, Akron and two sisters, Mrs. Mollie FREEMAN, Chicago and Mrs. Matilda TOWNS, Flint, Mich.

Flo McNitt
Funeral services for Mrs. Flo LEITER McNITT, 71, of Kewanna, were held this afternoon at the Paul Harrison funeral home, Kewanna, and burial was in the Kewanna I.O.O.F. cemetery. Mrs. McNitt died Friday night at the home of her sister, Mrs. Lucille COOK, Kewanna.
Born September 15, 1881, she was the daughter of John and Alice CLELAND LEITER. In 1905 she was married to William H. McNITT, who preceded her in death. Mrs. McNitt was a member of the Kewanna Methodist church. Mrs. cook, the sister, is the only survivor.
Emile “Pop” Martin
Final rites for Emile “Pop” MARTIN, who died February 14 at Wickenburg, Ariz., will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. Rev. Grant BLACKWOOD, of the Rochester Christian church will officiate. The American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will assist in the services.
The body will be laid to rest in the Crown
Point Mausoleum, Kokomo.
Dale Poenix
Dale POENIX, of Atlanta, Ga., former Fulton county prosecuting attorney, was killed in an auto accident in that city Sunday. His wife, who was riding with him, also was seriously injured.
Mrs. Poenix’s mother, Mrs. Betty KISTLER of Leiters Ford, received news of the accident late Sunday. A few hours later in company with her son, Sidney KISTLER, South Bend, she departed for Atlanta.
Mr. Poenix, a graduate of Indiana University law school, maintained a law practice in this city for several years and was prosecutor in 1935-36. At the time of his death he was employed as an adjustor for the All-State Insurance Company in the Atlanta area.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell POENIX, Grass Creek, currently are vacationing in Florida.
More details of the accident are expected to be received by county relatives later today. It is believed final rites will be held either in Rochester or Grass Creek.
W. W. Zimmerman
William W. ZIMMERMAN, 71, well known citizen and retired postal employee of this city, died at 12:30 today in Woodlawn hospital, where he had been a patient for nearly three weeks. His death was attributed to a heart ailment. He had been in failing health since last September.
Mr. Zimmerman, through his activities in both lodge and postal work had made a host of friends throughout the entire state. He retired from his duties as deputy post master of Rochester on November 30, 1951, after 43 years of service with the department. Prior to his entry into the postal service in August of 1908, Mr. Zimmerman was a school teacher.
Born November 14, 1881 in Miami county, his parents were John Franklin and Sarah BLACKBURN ZIMMERMAN. On April 1, 1905 he was married to Mabel A. NORMAN in Rochester. He was a member of the Rochester Baptist church, the I.O.O.F.; the Encampment and Canton lodges; the Masonic Order and the Rebekahs.
Surviving are his wife at home, 417 E. 13th street, this city; four daughters, Mrs. Nina WAECHTER, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Hugh KIRKENDALL, Mrs. Wilma McKINNEY and Mrs. Stanley SAMUELSON, all of Rochester; three sons, Dale, Byron and Ralph [ZIMMERMAN], all of this city; fifteen grandchildren; a brother Lon ZIMMERMAN and a sister, Mrs. Otto BOELTER, both of Rochester.

William Kepler
William KEPLER, 84, retired farmer, of Argos died at 5:30 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past week.
Mr. Kepler owned and operated a farm in the Poplar Grove community for over 35 years and moved to Argos two years ago.
He was born November 5, 1868 at Plymouth, to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis KEPLER. In 1893 he was married to Addie WICKIZER. Mr. Kepler was a member of the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. lodge No. 373 and served in all offices of that order including that of Past Grand. He attended the Trinity and Poplar Grove Churches.
Survivors are his wife, 307 Apple street, Argos; two sons, Lewis and Guy [KEPLER], both of R.R. 3, Argos; a daughter, Mrs. Helen HULLINGER, R.R. 2, Argos; a brother John KEPLER,
Niles, Mich.; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Ellis REED, of this city, has receive word that his brother, Ed W. REED, died Sunday at his home in Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Reed was a former resident of this city. He was 82 years of age at the time of his death. Final rites were to be held in Phoenix.
Dale Poenix
Final rites for Dale POENIX, 40, former resident of Rochester who was killed Sunday morning in an auto accident in Tampa, Fla., will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the United Brethren church, Grass Creek. Burial will be in the Grass Creek cemetery.
Mr. Poenix, his wife and son, David [POENIX], 7, who are residents of Atlanta, Ga., were enroute to their home after visiting with parents Mr. and Mrs. Russell POENIX, Grass Creek, who are spending the winter in Palmetto, Fla., when the accident occurred. Mrs. Poenix, the former Betty KISTLER, Leiters Ford, received several rib fractures and a punctured lung. David escaped with minor injuries.
Dale, son of Russell and Ida (ROUCH) POENIX, was born September 17, 1912, in Fulton county. He was graduated from Grass Creek high school and DePauw University. He also graduated from Indiana University Law School and served as prosecutor of Fulton county during 1935 and 1936. He was a member of the Fulton County Bar Association.
He had been a resident of Atlanta, Ga., since last fall, and was employed as an adjustor for the All-States Insurance Company.
Mr. Poenix was a veteran of World War II and served as an instrctor at Fort Benning, Ga.
Survivors are his wife and son, David, Atlanta, Ga.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell POENIX, Grass Creek and a brother, Robert POENIX, near Grass Creek.
The body now is enroute from Florida to the Paul Harrison funeral home, Kewanna.

Funeral services for William W. ZIMMERMAN, retired deputy Rochester postmaster, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rochester Baptist Church. Rev. J. A. COOVERT of Argos, assisted by Rev. H. Gordon HYDE of Rochester, will officiate. The I.O.O.F. lodge will give its final rites at the services and burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. The body rests at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home where friends may call.
Mr. Zimmerman was a past grand master of the Indiana Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows and for the past 5 years had served as trustee of the state grand lodge. His term as grand master was filled in 1930. He had been the degree master of the Rochester I.O.O.F. for over 40 years.
In 1911 Mr. Zimmerman was initiated into the Indiana Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows and since that time he missed only two annual meetings. He attended the annual sessions of the Grand
Lodge of Odd Fellows as a representative of the Indiana Grand Lodge at Winnepeg, Canada, and Columbus, Ohio. At the time of his death, Mr. Zimmerman was adjutant of the Canton Barnett lodge of this city.
The retired deputy postmaster also was active in Masonic Lodge circles, being a member of Rochester Blue Lodge and the Royal Arch Chapter and the Order of Eastern Star. He was grand master of the Rochester Masonic lodge in 1925.
Mr. Zimmerman was one of the founders of the local chapter of the Izaak Walton league and was a pioneer in the building of resort homes on Poet’s Point and Lily Park at Lake Manitou.
Prior to his employment in the Rochester postoffice, he taught school in Miami county, Mt. Zion and McKinley neighborhoods and later, for a period of two years, was principal of the LaPax high school.

Lottie L. Hubbard
Mrs. Lottie Loretta HUBBARD, 71, R.R. 5, Rochester, died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday at her home. Mrs. Hubbard suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and death occurred a few moments afterward. She had been a resident of the Tiosa community practically all of her life.
Born December 2, 1881, on a farm near Tiosa, she was the daughter of Alvin and Elizabeth (HOLLOWAY) NEUELL. In April of 1898 she was married to James HUBBARD, who died February 13, 1948. Mrs. Hubbard was a member of the Tiosa Brethren church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dana STARR, Mentone; Mrs. William MIDDLETON, Argos; a son, Roy HUBBARD, R.R. 1, Rochester; three sisters, Mrs. Meda BRIGHT, this city; Mrs. Lilly McINTYRE, Tippecanoe; Mrs. Martha HUNTER, Bluffton; a brother, George NEUELL, Rochester; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Foster funeral home here with the Rev. Grant BLACKWOOD in charge. Burial will be in the Reichter cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Dale Poenix
Mr. and Mrs. Russell POENIX of Grass Creek arrived home Tuesday evening from Tampa, Fla., to attend the final rites of their son, Dale POENIX, who was killed in an auto accident in Tampa, Sunday morning.
Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Grass Creek United Brethren church. Burial will be in the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Mrs. Poenix, who received fractured ribs in the accident, remains in the Memorial hospital, Tampa, where her condition is regarded as satisfactory. The son, David, 7, who escaped with minor injuries, accompanied his grandparents to their home at Grass Creek.
Paul Spry, Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon CARR will attend the funeral services of Mrs. Carr’s nephew, Paul SPRY, Jr., 24, of Syracuse which will be held in that city at 2 p.m. Friday.
Paul was killed in an auto accident Monday
night at Syracuse. He is survived by
his wife, two children and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul SPRY, Sr., all of

Donald L. Bose
Donald L. BOSE, 61, formerly of Argos, died Wednesday morning at his home, 206 East 33rd street, Indianapolis. Mr. Bose had been in ill health for over 10 years.
Following his graduation from Argos high school, he graduated from the Indiana University Law School in 1913. While attending I.U. he was a member of the track team and established a 440-yard dash record which was unbroken for seven years. He was a member of the Delta Tau Telta social fraternity.
Mr. Bose was born March 10, 1891 at Argos. His parents were Lewis and Minnie BOSE. He was married to Dorothy McINTOSH. He was a member of the Episcopal church and the Mystic Tie of the Masonic Order, Indianapolis.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mary [BOSE]; four sons, Don and James [BOSE], twins; David and Lewis [BOSE], and two grandchildren, all of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grossman funeral home, Argos. The Reverend Father SHERIDAN of the Plymouth Episcopalian church will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park addition of the Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Friday.
Ross Harden
Mrs. Dean ARVEN received word Wednesday that her great-uncle, Ross HARDEN, 81, of Decatur, died Tuesday evening from a heart attack. He resided with his son, Clyde HARDEN, on a farm near Decatur.
Mr. and Mrs. Arven will attend the services, which are being held Friday afternoon at Decatur.

Juey Ann Baker
Death came to Mrs. Mary BAKER, 21, at midnight Sunday in Woodlawn hospital, following the death of her two-day old infant daughter, Judy Ann BAKER, which occurred Sunday morning.
Mrs. Baker’s death resulted from complications in the wake of childbirth. She had been ill health for the past month.
Born in Fulton county on July 25, 1931, Mrs. Baker had been a resident of the county and the Grandview community throughout her entire life. She was the daughter of Harold and Louedva (BUNN) KUHN. On October 13, 1948, she was married to Eugene BAKER.
Surviving are the husband and son Mickey [BAKER]; her parens, Mr. and Mrs. Harold KUHN, all of the Grandview neighborhood; two brothers, John and Larry [KUHN] and a sister, Jean [KUHN], all at home; her grandfather, Ed BUNN and grandmother Mrs. Edith CASTLEMAN, of Leadsville, Colo.
Infant Judy Ann Baker, was born at Woodlawn hospital, Friday morning, February 27, and
passed away Sunday morning, March 1st. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene BAKER, of Grandview.
Funeral services for the mother and infant daughter will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandview church, nothwest of Rochester with the Rev. Frank HIGLEY officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Center cemetery.
Friends may call at the Foster funeral home until Tuesday evening at which time the bodies will be removed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold KUHN, near Grandview.
Arthur J. Fry
Arthur J. FRY, 74, farmer residing two miles southeast of Fulton, died in a tenant house on his farm at 8:45 a.m. today while repairing a well. Death resulted from a heart seizure. He had resided in Liberty township throughout his entire life.
He was born October 20, 1878, to John and Jennie FRY. He was married November 10, 1904, to [Verne A.] HORTON. Mr. Fry was a member of the Fulton E.U.B. church.
Survivors are his wife, at home; three sons, Harold [FRY], Niles, Mich; Lee and Loren [FRY], both of Fulton; a daughter, Esther PATTERSON, Kokomo; ten grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ora HORTON, Peru. Two children, Ray and Helen [FRY] preceded in death.

Henry Shepherd
A Korean veteran of 10-months, Henry SHEPHERD, 24, was killed instantly about 1:55 o’clock Saturday morning on a curve just south of Warsaw on State Road 15 in a colision with a semi-truck driven by Norman Rex LaRUE, 24, Pierceton.
Kendall HOWARD, 22, R.R. 1, Roann, a companion of Shepherd’s, lies critically injured in Murphy Medical Center at Warsaw. LaRue was held at the hospital for investigation but released.
The Shepherd car was demolished in the collision while damage to the truck is estimated at $1,200. Investigating officers, State Patrolman Wallace MANROW and Kosciusko County Sheriff Carl LAMATTA, said the Shepherd car was traveling an estimated 45 miles per hour and on the wrong side of the road when the crash occurred.
Shepherd ws the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank SHEPHERD who reside 1 1/2 miles southwest of Silver Lake and who survive, as do several brothers and sisters, including Mrs. Tom HOPKINS, Akron.
Funeral services for Shepherd were held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill church southeast of Silver Lake.

Arthur J. Fry
Final rites for Arthur J. FRY, who died of a heart attack Monday morning at his home near Fulton, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Fulton E.U.B. church. Rev. Paul MAST, assisted by Rev. Leonard FLETCHER, will officiate and burial will be in the Fulton cemetery.
The body will be removed from the Ditmire Chapel to the residence two miles southeast of Fulton, Wednesday morning. Friends may call at the residence.
Kendle Howard
Funeral services for Kendle HOWARD, 22, Laketon, second victim in the truck-auto crash which occurred on State Road 15 at the southern edge of Warsaw early Saturday, were held inServia this afternoon.
Howard died of his injuries at 5:50 o’clock Saturday evening in the Murphy Medical Center, Warsaw.
Final rites for Henry SHEPHERD, 24, another victim of the crash, were held Sunday afternoon in the Rose Hill church near Silver Lake.
Norman R. LaRUE, 24, Pierceton, driver of the semi-trailer, escaped with minor injuries.

John McLochlin
John “Ed” McLOCHLIN, 46, 1333 Liberty street, Logansport, died Tuesday night at the St. Joseph’s hospital, Logansport. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was born in Fulton county January 13, 1907, the son of George and Anna MURTHA McLOCHLIN. He was employed in the Bugby shoe repair shop for several years and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. McLochlin was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus, of Logansport. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; two sons, James and Patrick, all at home, and a brother, Francis McLOCHLIN, South Bend.
Final rites are pending. Friends may call at the Kroeger funeral home, Logansport.
Pauline Rhodes
Final rites for Mrs. Pauline RHODES, 64, former resident of this city, will be held in the Forrest funeral home, South Bend, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Rhodes, who committed suicide by hanging in her home, 1904 South Third street, South Bend, Monday afternoon, left a note saying she was suffering from an incurable heart ailment.
Her husband, Raymond F. RHODES, is employee of the Studebaker Corporation. The family moved from Rochester to South Bend in 1918.
W. W. Corbett
Mrs. Edna JONES, city clerk-treasurer, will leave for Wichita, Kan., Thursday morning where she will attend the funeral Saturday of her brother-in-law, W. W. CORBETT, who died suddenly Monday at St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Corbett and his wife were spending the winter in St. Petersburg when he died. Mrs. Jones will return to Rochester Monday.

Fannie C. Jones
Mrs. Fannie C. JONES, 68, died at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Grover STINGLEY residence, a mile east of Fulton, where she made her home. She had been a resident of Liberty township for eight years.
A native of Howard county, she was born October 16, 1885, the daughter of Ossian and Narcissa MENDENHALL HOBSON. She was a member of the Friends church at New London, Ind.
Surviving are a son, Fred F. JONES, New York City; a daughter, Mrs. James SHACKLEFORD, Bunker Hill; a sister, Mrs. Ellis WALDRON, Logansport; a brother, Enos HOBSON, Russiaville; and six grandchildren.
Brief servides will be conducted at the Ditmire Chapel, Fulton, at 10:30 a.m. Monday and final services held at 2 p.m. Monday at the church in New London.

James M. Crabbs
Mrs. John W. PASCHALL has received word of the death of her brother James M. CRABBS, 81, which occurred at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in a nursing home at Grand Rapids, Mich.
He was born Feb. 4, 1872, in Fulton county to John and Nancy N. CRABBS, who lived on what is still known as the CRABBS farm west of the Rochester city park. Mr. Crabbs was an agent for the Travelers Insurance Company.
Surviving are three children, a son, Edward [CRABBS] and a daughter, Mildred [CRABBS], both of Grand Rapids; Frances [CRABBS] of Tennessee; a brother Elmer J. CRABBS, Evanston, Ill, and a sister, Mrs. John PASCHALL of this city. A brother L. E. CRABBS of Rochester preceded him in death.
Final rites are to be held at 2 p.m. Monday in
Grand Rapids, Mich.
Lula G. Suman
Mrs. Lula G. SUMAN, 85, 207 W. 13th street, died at 2:30 a.m. today from an abdominal hemorrhage which she suffered only a short time before her death. Mrs. Suman was the widow of George SUMAN, one of the founders of the old Rochester Normal College.
The Sumans came to Rochester in 1902 and resided here until 1917, when they moved to Minneapolis, Minn. Her husband died in 1928 at Minneapolis. Mrs. Suman returned to Rochester in 1937 and has resided here since.
She was born March 8, 1868, in Blackford county, Ind., and in 1888 was married to George Suman. Her parents were Montgomery and Malinda (SENOUR) GROENDYKE. Mrs. Suman for several years was a college and school teacher. Her husband was a professor in the Rochester Normal College.
Survivors are two sons, Herbert SUMAN, Oak Park, Ill.; George SUMAN, Waupaca, Wis.; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Norman R. STONER received word Friday of the death of her nephew Jack FISHER, 45, which occurred at his home in Tacoma, Wash. Mr. Fisher’s wife, Ruth [SELBY FISHER], was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael SELBY, former residents of this city.

Funeral services for John H. SCHEUER, 77, Monterey, who died Friday morning, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Ann’s Catholic church, Monterey. Rev. Father Frederick SCHROEDER will officiate and burial will be in the St. Ann’s cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Born October 2, 1875, in Chicago, he was married to Lucy LATTUS, May 16, 1922. Mr. Scheuer was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Chicago Benevolent society.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lula SUMAN will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. The body then will be taken to Indianapolis for cremation. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Ramond M. Ditmire
Raymond Mahler DITMIRE, 56, well-known farmer residing a mile west of Delong, died at 9:45 p.m. Friday at his home. He had been in failing health for a year and was critically ill for the past 10 days. He had been a resident of that commnity since 1917, coming there from South Bend.
A native of Fulton County, he was born April 27, 1896, at Rochester, the son of Simon and Catherine (MAHLER) DITMIRE. He was married to Mildred ZECHIEL of Culver on June 10, 1925. Mr. Ditmire was a member of the Delong Methodist church and the Masonic Order of Kewanna.
Survivors are his wife; five daughters, Doris, Jean and June [DITMIRE], all at home; Mrs. Catherine OVERMYER, Rochester; Mrs. Ruth THOMAS, South Bend; three sons, Raymond, Lee and Norman [DITMIRE], all at home; a foster sister, Mrs. Virginia STEINMEIER, Indianapolis and four grandchildren.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Delong church. Rev. W. ARCHIBALD of Leiters Ford will officiate and burial will be in the Leiters Ford I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Elmer O. Irwin
Elmer O. IRWIN, 61, retired farmer residing two miles southeast of Argos, died at 8:30 a.m. today in Woodlawn hospital where he had been a patient for a week. Death was attributed to a coronary occlusion. He was a life long resident of Marshall county.
Mr. Irwin ws born February 7, 1892, on a farm near Argos. His parents were Wesley and Rosetta IRWIN. On January 6, 1914, he was married to Iva MIDDLETON, Argos. He was a member of the Jordan Baptist church and also attended the Argos Christian church.
Survivors are his wife, at home; two sons, Harold [IRWIN], Woodstock, Ill.; Kline [IRWIN], Plymouth; two brothers, Francis [IRWIN], Argos; Herschel [IRWIN], Plymouth; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie QUIVEY, near Plymouth; Mrs. Ila JONES, Mrs. Nova WARNER and Mrs. Crystal FISHBURN, all of Argos.

Nora A. Sands
Mrs. Nora A. SANDS, 75, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martha Ellen Martin, Akron. She had been in ill health for two years and in a serious condition for three months. Mrs. Sands had resided in Akron all her life with the exception of nine years in Peru.
She was born August 11, 1878 in Kosciusko county to Gilford and Lucinda (ROBINSON) MILLER. In 1902 she was married to Samuel SANDS at Peru. Mrs. Sands owned and operated the Eat Rite Cafe in Akron for several years. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Evangelical church.
Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. Martha Ellen MARTIN; two step-daughters, Mrs. Fay STEWART and Mrs. Kelvia CANFIELD, both of Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheetz funeral home, Akron, with the Rev. John SMELTZER in charge. Burial will be in Akron I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Charles A. Eber
Charles A. EBER, 82, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at his farm home, four miles south of Rochester on State Road 25. Mr. Eber, who had been a resident of the Mt. Olive community practically all of his life, had been seriously ill only a few days.
He was born May 13, 1870, in Miami county, near Gilead, to Louis and Elizabeth (DIELMAN) EBER. On June 3, 1896, he was married to Maude GREEN, who died on January 2, 1899. His second marriage on March 26, 1901, was to Minnie A. DAWALD. Mr. Eber was a member of the Antioch U. B. church and the Maccabee Order.
Survivors are the wife, at home; four sons, Vern, John and Paul, all of south of Rochester; Carl [EBER], Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Frank [EBER], Macy; five sisters, Mrs. Emma HOFFMAN, Akron; Mrs. Lottie PONTIUS, Kalkaska, Mich.; Mrs. Sarah HANS, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Alice FELDER, South Bend; Mrs. Lola FELDER, San Mateo, Calif.; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ora Read
Mrs. Ora READ, 83, died at 8:15 a.m. today in the Dukes hospital, Peru, where she had been a patient since August, 1950. Death resulted from complications which followed a hip fracture in August, 1950. She had been a resident of Miami county since 1906, coming there from Illinois.
Mrs. Read was born in Momence, Ill., August 19, 1869. Her parents were George and Sarah (HESS) OLDS. Her husband, James [L.] READ, died in 1920. She was a member of the Ebenezer church.

Friends in Aubbeenaubbee township have received word of the death of Mrs. Sarah (BLANCHARD) LEICESTER, widow of William LEICESTER, who died Saturday morning at her home in Elkhart.
She was born April 19, 1868, in Leiters Ford and she was married to Mr. Leicester, October 17, 1891, at Rochester. Three daughters survive.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Walley funeral home, Elkhart. Burial will be in the Rice cemetery, there.

Frank Pontious
Frank PONTIOUS, 83, of Athens, died 6:15 a.m. today in the Huntington County hospital, Huntington, Ind. He had been seriously ill for a week. Mr. Pontious was formerly a maintenance foreman on he Erie R.R. and was retired in 1945.
He was born December 25, 1869 in Fulton county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward PONTIOUS. In December of 1897 he was married to Lula SMITH, who died in 1945.
Surviving are three sons, George, Huntington; Ralph, Elkhart; Raymond [PONTIOUS], Athens; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Will [PONTIOUS], Argos; two sisters, Mrs. Ida CRABILL, Rochester and Mrs. Maude CARNAHAN, Auburn.
Final rites will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Athens E. U. B. church with the Rev. Mrs. F. A. RISLEY officiating. Friends may call at the Moyer-Haupert funeral home, Akron.
Lee Shierling
Lee SHIERLING, 75, farmer residing near Fulton, died at 2:30 Monday afternoon in Woodlawn hospital, following a 10-day illness. He had been a resident of Liberty township for 33 years.
Mr. Shierling was born May 22, 1877 in Randolph county, Indiana. His parents were Joseph and Susan (ALMONROAD) SHIERLING. His wife, the former Susan RESER, preceded him in death on April 3, 1952.
Survivors are a stepson, Lores MACE, Union City, Ind., a brother, Martin SHIERLING, Saratoga, Ind.

George E. Ice
George E. ICE, 59, 620 Wallace Ave., this city, died at 8 a.m. today at Woodlawn hospital where he had been a patient since last Wednesday. Death resulted from complications which followed injuries he received in a fall from an auto three weeks ago. He had been a resident of this community practically all of his life.
The son of Andy and Lue (EYTCHESON) ICE, he was born in Rochester on October 27, 1893. He was employed as a laborer.
Survivors are an aunt, Mrs. Meade KNIGHT, Hartford City; a stepbrother, Steve CROUSSORE; and two stepsisters, Mrs. Sylvia FLANNAGAN and Mrs. Clara KUNLEY, all of Lafayette, and several great- niece and nephews.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with Rev. SAVAGE officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Citizens cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Howard W. Rager
Howard W. RAGER, 73 years old, Laketon contractor, died at 2:40 o’clock Monday afternoon at a Logansport hospital following a two-year illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock Thursday morning at the Laketon E.U.B. church, the Rev. Howard STEELE and the Rev. J. F. BRIGHT officiating. Burial will be in Laketon cemetery.
The body was taken to the Moyer-Haupert funeral home in Akron and will be removed to the residence in Laketon where friends may call after 11 o’clock Wednesday morning.
Mr. Rager, born March 22, 1879, in Wabash County, was the son of Albert and Lodema SHOLTY RAGER. He was married in 1903 to the former Callie GOEHLER, who survives him.
Surviving, besides the widow, are six sisters, Mrs. Oma SARBER of Claypool, Mrs. Elva SHOEMAKER and Mrs. Ruth STEICHLER, both of Wabash. Mrs. Mary LITTLEFIELD of Servia, Mrs. Edith WERTENBERGER of Silver Lake and Mrs. Bertha LEADER of West Africa, and two brothers, Lee and John RAGER, both of North Manchester.
A brother and two children preceded him in death.
Mr. Rager was a member of the Maccabees Lodge and the E.U.B. Church of Laketon.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell BARTHOLOMEW, R.R.2, Rochester, will go to Harvey, Ill., where Friday they will attend the fneral services of the latters brother, John McGEE, 48. Mr. McGee died Monday night.
Charlotte Cram
Mrs. Charlotte (KUBLEY) CRAM, 75, R.R. 1, Argos, died at 3:45 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital where she had been a patient for over six months.
Mrs. Cram resided at the old Kubley homeplace on the Marshall-Fulton County line, near Talma for 30 years. She had many friends throughout Marshall and Fulton counties.
Charlotte, daughter of Jacob and Charlotte (BEEHLER) KUBLEY was born Jan. 29th, 1878 at Lansing, Tenn. She was married to Quincy M. CRAM who preceded her in death in 1930. Mrs. Cram was a member of the Christian church, of Talma and the Rebekah lodge of Tippecanoe. She moved with her parents from Tennessee to her present farm home in 1885.
Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Mary M. WALKER of Indianapolois; a brother, Will R. KUBLEY, who made his home with her and several nephews and one niece. Four sisters and two brothers preceded in death. Charles H. ESSIG, this city, is a nephew.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Johns funeral home in Mentone. Rev. Delbert RUBERG, of the Talma Christian church will officiate and burial will be in the Reichter cemetery, near Talma.

Dwight L. Voorhees
Russell VOORHEES, ex-sheriff, of Rochester left Thursday for Richland, Ga., where he was called by the death of his father, Dwight L. VOORHEES, which occurred in a Richland hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. D. L. VOORHEES had spent the winter in Florida and were enroute to their home in Garrett, Ind., when he was stricken with a heart attack several days ago. He was moved to a hospital.
Mr. Voorhees was a retired B. & O. railroad engineer.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Blanche VOORHEES; two sons, Millicant VOORHEES, Gary, and Russell VOORHEES, this city; a daghter, Mrs. Susan MINEAR, Fort Wayne, and four grandchildren.
The body is being returned to Garrett. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Margaret Ann Kistler
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Ann KISTLER, former resident of the Talma community, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Talma Methodist church with the Rev. Claude TROMBAUER officiating. Burial will be in the Royal Center cemetery.
Mrs. Kistler died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the home of her cousin, Mrs. John L. ELLIS, with whom she had lived for several years.
She was born on May 22, 1879 in Newcastle township. Her parents were Albert and Susann DICK. Her husband, Curtis KISTLER, preceded her in death in 1912. Mrs. Kistler was a member of the Talma Methodist church.
Survivors are a foster son, Loren KREAMER, and a brother Willard DICK, both of Talma.
Edwin L. Hagans
Relatives here have received word of the death of Edwin L. HAGANS, 92, Elkhart, a former resident of Fulton county, who died in Elkhart, March 10.
He was born Octoer 17, 1869, in Fulton county and married Lillie L. NELSON in Rochester, February 13, 1892.
The Haganses resided on farms in Newcastle township for many years and moved to Elkhart in 1916, where he was employed by the Elkhart Brass Company until a few years ago.
Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. C. G. PETRY, Culver City, Cal.; two sons, Lee O. HAGANS, R.R. 5, Elkhart, and Davis N. HAGANS, Elkhart; five grandchildren and five
greatgrandchildren.
Final rites were held in Elkhart this afternoon and burial was made in the Rice cemetery in that city.

Joseph Frank CIZEK, R. R. 2, Lake Manitou, died at 5:45 a.m. today at his residence near the Old Fairview Hotel site. He had been ill for the past six months. Mr. Cizek had resided at Lake Manitou since 1947, coming here from Chicago.
He was born in Chicago. His parents were James and Josephine (BARTA) CIZEK. On June 24, 1911, he was married to Barbara ZALUD in Chicago. Mr. Cizek was a member of the St. John Parish of Chicago.
Survivors are his wife, at home; a brother, James CIZEK, Chicago; three sisters, Mary CIZEK, Chicago; Mrs. Rose FLYNN of California; Mrs. Agnes ZALUD, Chicago; two brothers-in-law, Frank ZALUD and Harry SIMON, both of chicago and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rose SIMON, also of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews. A brother and sister preceded in death.

Mrs. Anna M. HANCOCK, 57, of Gilead, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at her home. Death, which came suddenly, was attribted to a heart seizure. She had been a resident of Gilead for three years, coming there from New York.
She was born February 12, 1896, in New York, N.Y., to Tony and Filemo FERELIO. On September 10, 1922, she was married to F. R. HANCOCK. The Hancocks operate a grocery and filling stateion at Gilead.
Survivors are the husband, Gilead; two sons, Tony VIOLINTA, Utica, N.Y.; William Lewis [HANCOCK], at home, and a daughter, Mrs. Louisa CARLONE, Utica, N.Y., and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Gilead Methodist church with Rev. Lyle RAMUSSIN and Rev. Roscoe FENEGER officiating. Burial will be in the Gilead cemetery.

Henry G. Altheide
Henry G. ALTHEIDE, R.R. 1, Culver, died early today in the Parkview Hospital, LaPorte. Mr. Altheide had been seriously ill for the past several weeks.
He was born August 3, 1886, in Hancock county, Ill., and came to Marshall county as a boy with his parents, Henry and Minnie (LINNENBERGER) ALTHEIDE. He was engaged in farming until ill health forced his retirement.
Survivors are his wife, Audra [ALTHEIDE]; at home; three daughters, Mrs. Betty BOYD, Rochester; Mrs. Mary PORTER, Culver; Mrs. Anna Mae RICE, LaPorte; two sons, Henry E. ALTHEIDE and Dale OSBORN, both of Culver; ten grandchildren, and a half-brother, Louis ALTHEIDE, Plymouth.

Cora I. Town
Mrs. Cora Idella TOWN, 77, 329 W. 10th street, this city, died at 3:30 a.m. today in Woodlawn hospital. Mrs. Town suffered a severe heart attack Wednesday evening at the home of her foster daughter, Mrs. Leona MOORE of Walnut, and was immediately taken to the hospital.
Mrs. Town had resided in Rochester since 1951 following the death of her husband that year. She had been a resident of Fulton county since a young girl, coming here from Ohio.
Cora Idella, daughter of Adam and Catherine EMICK was born May 18, 1875, at Orrville, Ohio. Her first marriage was to Amos ALDERFER, who died in 1932. In 1943 she was married to Charles TOWN. Mrs. Town was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors are a foster daughter, Mrs. I. W. MONROE, R.R. 1, Argos; three stepsons, Demoine TOWN, R.R. 1, Argos; Guilford TOWN, Mishawaka; Ronald TOWN, Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Lyda ROHRER, Paris, O.; three half-brothers, Ray EMICK, Mt. Eaton, O.; Glen EMICK, Fairborn, O.; Lloyd EMICK, Canton, O.; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Ruth BUNCH CAMPBELL of California.

Funeral services for Amie Gordon STROUSS, 84, Mishawaka, were held today at the Mud Creek Church of Christ, seven miles south of Rochester.
Mr. Strouss, a former resident of Fulton county, died Wednesday in the St. Joseph hospital, Mishawaka. He had resided in Mishawaka since 1943.
He is survived by his wife, Iona (TRAINOR)
STROUSS; three daughters, four sons, eighteen grandchildren; sixteen
great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother.
William E. Catte
William E. CATTE, 46, of Warsaw, former resident of Rochester, died 11 p.m. Thursday in Newport News, V. He was stricken with a coronary occlusion while he was driving a house trailer through to that city from the Elcar Coach Company, Bourbon, and died while enroute to a hospital.
He was born Jan. 16, 1907 at Richmond, Ind. to William and Elizabeth (BUSSON) CATTE. In 1927, he was married to Helen JENNINGS at Richmond. Mr. Catte was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic church of Warsaw. For the past few years he was employed by the Elcar Coach Company.
Survivors are: his wife, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Joe PRISER, Warsaw; Jane Ann and Carol Sue; a son, Richard [CATTE], all at home; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth CATTE, Richmond; four sisters, Mrs. George KILGUS, Anderson; Mrs. William FRANKS, Oshkosh, Wis.; Mrs. Edith EGLOFF, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Charles ROBERTS, Carlos, Ind.; a brother, Leonard CATTE, Richmond, and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Rebecca HOFFMAN, 94, a pioneer resident of Akron, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday at the Rochester Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for several weeks. She had been in failing health for over a year.
Rebecca, daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (AULT) ZEGAFUSE, was born April 23, 1858, in Miami county. She was married to Silas HOFFMAN in 1896 in Miami county. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of the Evangelical church. Her husband died a number of years ago.
Survivors are a brother, Emanuel ZEGAFUSE, Rochester, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and two sisters preceded in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Akron Church of God. The Rev. Daniel SLAYBAUGH will officiate and burial will be in the Akron I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the Sheetz funeral home until 1 p.m. Thursday at which time the body will be taken to the church.

Funeral services for George N. HARTS, 70, former Peru resident, will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday at the Drake-Flowers funeral home, Peru.
Harts, a resident of Spencerville, Ind., was killed in an ato accident east of Avilla, Sunday morning.
He was born May 23, 1882 in Delong to Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin HARTS. He was a member of the Peru Methodist church.
Surviving are three sons, Curtis R. and Austin H., both of Fort Wayne; Morris W. [HARTS], South Milford; two broters and a sister: Arthur, Alexandria; Roy [HARTS], Amboy; Mrs. Monroe ZELLERS, Kewanna; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Laura B. Hood
Final rites for Mrs. Laura B. HOOD, 94, were held this afternoon at her home in Pulaski county. Burial was made in the Kewanna I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Mrs. Hood, who was the mother of Mrs. Chloa RENO of this city, died at 2 a.m. Sunday.
She was born Sept. 22, 1858, in Carroll county, the daughter of John and Mary (MARSHALL) BROWN. On Jan. 14, 1878, she was married to Isaiah HOOD, who died in 1927.
Other survivors are two daughters, Essa ATHA, Montant, Cal.; Stella KORNER, at home; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grndchildren.

Edward Kesler
Funeral services for Edward KESLER, 77, former resident of Menone, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mentone Methodist church with the Rev. FROST of Warsaw in charge. Burial will be in the Mentone cemetery.
Mr. Kesler died Monday night in the McDonald hospital, Warsaw where he had been a patient for several weeks. He was a retired farmer.
The son of Isaac and Elizabeth KESLER, he was born in Mentone in 1875. His first marriage in 1903 was to Nora PERSCBACER, who preceded him in death. In 1929 he married Dadee TUCKER. He was a member of the Mentone Methodist church and also of the Warsaw
Methodist church.
Survivors are his wife and two children, Nenian KESLER, Rochester and Argrella HEETER, Auburn.
The body will lie in state at the Kesler residence in Warsaw until 1 p.m. Thursday.
Ruth Gray
Rochester relatives have received word of the death of Mrs. W. Scott GRAY, the former Ruth TIPTON, of Wolcottville, Ind., which occurred Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Gray was born and raised in Rochester, the daugher of Mr. and Mrs. James TIPTON. The Tiptons resided on West 11th street, this city, in the residence now occupied by Mrs. Ollie ROBBINS.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, four grandchildren and a brother, Howard TIPTON, who resides in the Southwest. Robert ZELLER and Mrs. Floyd Van TRUMP, of this city, are cousins of the deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Gray residence in Wolcottville.
Bertha M. Brown
Mrs. Bertha M. BROWN, 72, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 229 W. Third street, Rochester, following a stroke of paralysis suffered March 14. Mrs. Brown had been a resident of this city most of her life.
She was born in Henry township Feb. 1, 1881, to John U. and Alice (KUHN) BRYANT. Her first marriage in 1901 was to Charles ALSPACH, who died in 1923. On October 9, 1937, she was married to William BROWN. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Rochester Church of God and the W.C.T.U.
Surviving are the husband, at home; two sons, Louis ALSPACH, Mishawaka; John ALSPACH, Sturgis, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Georgia HAVLICK, this city; two sisters, Mrs. Lou GROVE, Talma; Mrs. Fred FOLLMER, San Diego, Cal.; three brothers, Harley BRYANT, this city; Sam BRYANT, Morocco; Roy BRYANT, San Diego,Cal.; and a grandson, David ALSPACH, Mishawaka.

Mrs. Mary M. WALKER, 82, R. 5, died Wednesday at 8:20 p.m. in the Methodist hospital, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Walker had resided at her summer home near Talma, for many years and lived in Indianapolis during the winters.

James F. Hooker
Funeral services for James Francis HOOKER, 37, Argos, who was fatally injured in the north Hammond railroad switching yards Tuesday evening, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grossman funeral home, Argos. Rev. Allen B. RICE of the Argos Methodist church will officiate and burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery there.
Hooker, who had been employed by the B. & O. and Grand Trunk railroads for several years, died while enroute to the St. Margaret hospital. He had never married. He made his home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred HOOKER, 205 North Maple street, Argos.
Mr. Hooker was a graduate of Argos high school, class of ‘36, and for a nmber of years was active in the Argos Boy Scouts organization.
Surviving are his parents; a brother, Robert [HOOKER], Santa Monica, Calif.; his maternal grandmothers, Mrs. Jane HOOKER, Argos; Mrs. Mertie BREWER, Argos and several other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Otto JEFFERIES, 66, were held this afternoon at the Johns funeral home, Mentone. Burial was in the Mentone cemetery.
She was born near Talma on March 2, 1887, to Mr. and Mrs. Sidney GREEN. Mrs. Jefferies died Tuesday morning in the McDonald hospital, Warsaw. She had been seriously ill for two years.

Franklin Ambrose THOMPSON, 84, retired blacksmith of Inwood, died at 1 a.m. today at the home of his son, Omer THOMPSON, of Argos. Mr. Thompson had been seriously ill for three months and in failing health for four years. He had been a resident of Marshall county for 43 years coming there fromWabash. He was born Jan. 24, 1869 near Bremen to David and Caroline THOMPSON. On Dec. 12, 1899, he was married to Ella May JONES.
Survivors are his wife, Inwood; six daughters, Mrs. Elsie MINEAR, North Webster; Mrs. Leo PINKEY, Mentone; Mrs. Frances SMITH, Warsaw; Mrs. Elba JANKE, Mentone; Mrs. Louise DEACON, Mishawaka; Mrs. Catherine CAPES, Walkerton; three sons, Omer [THOMPSON], Argos; Emmett [THOMPSON] Warsaw; Kent [THOMPSON], at home; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Gale THOMPSON, Atwood and two sisters, Mrs. Emma NETTER, Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Sarah JONES, Indianapolis.

Clair D. Jones
Clair D. JONES, 38, R.R. 2, Rochester, died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the Osteopathic Hospital, South Bend, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He had been in ill health for six years.
Mr. Jones was born April 27, 1914 at Argos. He was the son of Arley and Ila JONES. On October 31, 1936 he was married to Margaret HEIGHWAY, at Rochester. He was engaged in farming until ill health forced his retirement. Mr. Jones was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist church.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Ronald [JONES], and a daughter, Jeanette [JONES], all at home; his parents; a brother, Ancil [JONES], R.R. 2, Argos, and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Ellen MORRILL and Mrs. Ruth ADAMS, both of Argos.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethlehem Baptist church. Rev. Lloyd POWELL, assisted by Rev. Ericus FOOR, will officiate and burial will be in the Mt. Hope cemetery, Athens.
The body will lie in state at the Grossman funeral home, Argos, from 7 p.m. today until 3 p.m. Tuesday. It will then be removed to the Jones home where friends may call up until 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Ezra Leazenby
Final rites for Ezra LEAZENBY, 74, Grass Creek, who died Saturday in a Logansport hospital, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrison funeral home, Kewanna. Burial will be in the Royal Center cemetery. He was born Feb. 15, 1879, to Jacob and Mahala SHERMAN LEAZENBY of Clymers. He was a member of the Christian church, Kewanna.
Survivors are the widow, at home; three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Daisy BROWNING; Mrs. Goldie BRYAN, both of Logansport; Mrs. Lillian WEBSTER, Royal Center; Edward LEAZENBY, Warsaw; Albert LEAZENBY, Logansport. Four brothers and three grandchildren preceded him in death.

George E. White
George E. WHITE, 80, retired farmer residing four and a half miles north of Akron, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday. He had been ill for several weeks from pneumonia. Mr. White had been a resident of Henry township his entire life.
He was born in Akron, Dec. 2, 1872, to Peter and Sarah (PRILL) WHITE. On Nov. 11, 1893, he was married to Sidella ADAMSON, who preceded him in death in July, 1950. Mr. White was a member of Olive Bethel Church of God.
Survivors are two sons: Everett [WHITE], Terre Hauts; Claud [WHITE], Akron; a daughter, Eliza Ann WHITE, at home, and a brother, John [WHITE], Elkhart. Five brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Olive Bethel Church of God with the Rev. Gerald SNYDER in charge. Burial will be in the Nichols cemetery.
The body will be taken from the Moyer-Haupert funeral home to the White residence at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Friends may call at the residence.
William L. Holland
Funeral services for William L. HOLLAND, 77, of R.R. 2, Macy, were held this afternoon at the McCain funeral home, Denver. Rev. M. C. MORROW was in charge of the rites and burial was in the Deedsville cemetery.
Mr. Holland, a retired plumber, died Saturday after a three years’ illness. Born in England, he had been a resident of the Macy community for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah [HOLLAND]; a son, Albert E. [HOLLAND], Macy, and five grandchildren.

Lulu Bell Brubaker
Mrs. J. Walter BRUBAKER, a lifelong resident of Fulton county, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday at her home, 1023 South Monroe street, this city. She had been seriously ill for the past six months. Mrs. Brubaker had countless friends throughout Rochester and community and for several years assisted her husband in the management of the Brubaker Garage, which was sold several years ago to the Deeds Equipment Company.
Lulu Bell, daughter of Andrew J. and Sarah (WAUGH) HAIMBAUGH, was born on a farm near Mentone. Practically all of her girlhood was spent on what is known as the HAIMBAUGH farm, located a mile and a quarter south of Rochester on State Road 25. On December 23, 1896, she was married to J. Walter BRUBAKER, who survives.
She was a member of Rochester Baptist church, the Social Club, the McKinley Club and the Rebekah lodge.
Other survivors are a son, J. “Jack” BRUBAKER, R.R. 1, Rochester; a daughter, Mrs. Isaac HOLMES, this city; a sister, Mrs. Arthur DEAMER, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; a brother, Porter HAIMBAUGH, R.R. 6, Rochester; six grandsons; four great-grandsons, and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rochester Baptist church with the Rev. H. Gordon HYDE in charge. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
The body will be taken from the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home to the Brubaker residence at 4 p.m. Friday where friends may call.

Col. Isaac L. Kitts
Culver, Ind., April 3--Col. Isaac L. KITTS, director of horsemanship at Culver Military Academy, died Thursday night. He was a member of the 1932 and 1936 U. S. Olmpic equestrian teams, and was a veteran of both World Wars.
Maggie Swick
Mrs. Maggie SWICK, 86, of Akron, died at 3 o’clock this morning in the Woodlawn Hospital following an illness of nine weeks.
The daughter of Jacob and Mary (SUMME) WEISS, she was born January 31, 1867, in Berne, Switzerland. She came to this country at the age of 16.
She was united in marriage to Levi SWICK in 1885 at Beaver Dam. He preceded her in death in 1930.
Mrs. Swick was a member of the Akron Church of God.
Survivors include three sons, Ira [SWICK], of Claypool; Sherman and Percy [SWICK] of Akron; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jacob WEISS, Claypool.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Akron Church of God with the Rev. D. L. SLAYBAUGH and the Rev. Harold CONRAD officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sheetz Funeral Home inAkron until 1 p.m. Sunday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state.

Omer Francis Long
Omer Francis LONG, 76, well-known farmer residing four miles southwest of Argos, suffered a fatal heart attack at 2 p.m. Friday while in the Argos cigar store. He died within a few minutes after the seizure. He had been a resident of the Argos community his entire life.
He was born January 22, 1887, in Marshall county to Joseph and Rebekah LONG. He was married to Ona ALDERFER, who preceded him in death on December 13,1930. Mr. Long was a member of the Gleaners Lodge.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Marjory SMITH, R.R. 3, Argos; a grandson, Charles SMITH, R.R. 2, Argos; a great-grandson, Richard Earl SMITH, and two brothers, George LONG, South Bend and Charles LONG, R.R. 3, Argos.

Clayton R. Rookstool
Clayton Ray ROOKSTOOL, 68, farmer residing on R.R. 3, Rochester, died at 3 a.m. today in Woodlawn hospital. He had been ill 10 days with a heart ailment. Mr. Rookstool had been a resident of Grandview community for 25 years, coming there from South Bend.
He was born Aug. 22, 1884, in Rochester to David and Mahala ROOKSTOOL. On June 1, 1912, he was married to Celia BRADWAY at South Bend.
Surviving are his wife, at home; a son, Kenneth [ROOKSTOOL], R.R. 3, and a daughter, Mrs. Berniece BITTERLING, R.R. 3,; his stepfather, Isaac BARNES, Peru; a brother, Sam ROOKSTOOL, South Bend; a sister, Mrs. Clark ARMEY, and three grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death.
Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Rochester Church of god with the Rev. L. E. POWELL officiating. Burial will be in the Highland cemetery, South Bend. The body rests at the Foster Funeral home where friends may call.

Funeral services for August C. BEYER, 69, of Orrville, Ohio, were held this afternoon at the Presbyterian church in that city. Burial was made in the Orrville Crown Hill cemetery.
