A. BURNS, 71, 6542 S. Old U.S. 31, Macy, died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday at St.
Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Carmel.
Born in
Peru to Charles R. and Rosemary HAWKINS BURNS, he married Marjorie GILL Nov. 9,
1951, in Logansport. She survives.
Mr. Burns
was a 1950 graduate of Peru High School and attended Indiana State Technical
School, Kokomo. He and his brother, Dan, founded Burns Construction Co., Macy,
in 1969. He retired in 1996. He was a member of Elks Lodge 2120, Manitou Moose
Lodge 1107, both of Rochester, Daytona Beach, Fla., Bridge Club, and the Delco
Dance Club, Kokomo. He participated in the Indiana Auto Auction, Fort Wayne,
and was a member of Subway Alumni Association of Notre Dame University, South
Bend, and the Elks Golf Team, Rochester.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are four daughters, Charlene HARRISON and husband
Terry, Denver, Vickey HECKERT, Virginia Beach, Virg., Valerie FLENAR and
husband Brett, Akron, and Annie HENDRIX and husband David, Port Orange, Fla.;
one son, Charles E. [BURNS], Daytona Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Laura and
Kelli HARRISON, Daniel RICHARDS, Mandy CORTESE, Faith and Christian HECKERT,
Melanie HELTON, Brian, Matthew and Jessica FLEBAR and Taylor and Tessa HENDRIX;
11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dan [BURNS] and wife Marilyn, Denver, and
Larry [BURNS], Denver.

in death were his parents.
Services
are at 2 p.m. Friday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev.
Dan MUNDT officiating. Burial will be at Mud Lake Chapel Cemetery, Macy.

Thomas WILSON, 66, Peru, died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital,
Indianapolis.
Born in
Kokomo to Floyd Clarence and Eva Pauline BROWN WILSON, he married Martha
Lorraine BRADLEY Feb. 14, 1960, in Kokomo. She died May 28, 2002.
Mr.
Wilson served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1993 and was
a member of Peru Moose Lodge and United Auto Workers Union 685, Kokomo.
Survivors
include three sons, Grant Thomas [WILSON] and wife Teresa, Rochester, Bradley
Thomas [WILSON] and wife Carman, Peru, James
Patrick [WILSON] and wife Kari, Denver; one daughter, Marie Eileen SELDERS and
husband Bob, Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Sarah STILLWELL, and Ashley,
Brooke, Connor, Shea and Skyler WILSON; five brothers, Bob, Gary and Dave
WILSON, all of Kokomo, and Clyde and Mark [WILSON], both of California; four
sisters, Maureen COMWELL, Sue MASSEY, Nancy SLOAN and Carol STREEBIN, all of
Kokomo.

in death with his wife were his parents, two brothers, Jim and Junior WILSON,

Dr.
Robert L. BURTON, 58, died at 1:55 a.m. Thursday at his Goodland residence.
Born in
Logansport to Lincoln E. and Lucille ZUCK BURTON, he married Delores McKINLEY
Feb. 9, 1969. She survives.
Dr.
Burton was a graduate of Purdue University Veterinary Program and the
University of Minnesota. He worked in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corp. from 1968
to 1980 and served in the Indiana National Guard from 1980 to 1996. He owned
and operated a veterinary practice in Remington and Kentland from 1980 to 2002.
He was a member of Remington United Methodist Church, the American Veterinary
Medical Association, Indiana Veterinary Association, Jasper County Board of
Health, City Farmers and Tri-County Future Farmers of America Advisory Board.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are his mother, Lucille ZUCK BURTON, Rochester; two
sons, Dr. Lance BURTON and wife Belinda, Auburn, Scott BURTON and wife Jeanne,
Monticello; three grandchildren, Reid, Marie and Nicholas BURTON; one brother,
Wendell [BURTON] and wife Beth, Rochester; and one sister, Luella HILL and
husband John, Falls Church, Va.

HARTMAN, 84, Indianapolis, formerly of Rochester, died Tuesday at Brandywine
Nursing Home, Greenfield.

Rochester to Virgil and Fleetie CRIPPEN KING, she married Richard J. HARTMAN.
He preceded her in death.
Mrs.
Hartman was a homemaker and a teacher in Fulton County. She graduated from Ball
State University in 1938.
Survivors
include three daughters, Judy McEVOY, Indianapolis, Sue DUNLEVY and Lette
JONES, both of Greenfield; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two
sisters, Luella EMERY and Alice FRIEDRICH, both of Rochester; and one brother,
Lyman KING, Rochester.

Central St., Akron, died at 12:48 a.m. Thursday at St. Frances Hospital, Beach

Born in
Disko to Frank and Edna McPEAK GEARHART, he married Dorothy Marie KAMERER Nov.
12, 1942, in Springfield, Mo. She died in 1992.
Mr.
Gearhart moved to Indianapolis after living most of his life in Fulton and
Wabash counties. He was a manager at Treaty Elevator, Treaty, Ind. He was a
U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in New Guinea and the Philippines.
Survivors
include one daughter, Rebecca Ann MASON and husband James, Indianapolis; one
son, James Arthur [GEARHART] and wife Barbara, Freemont, Mich.; six
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Opal L. GEARHART, Akron,
Ruth MILLER and husband Charles and Dorothy ALGER and husband Ogden, all of
North Manchester, Sharon MEENEN, Macy, and Joan HARRIS and husband Tom, Fulton;
five brothers, Harold [GEARHART] and wife Bonnie, Indianapolis, Bill [GEARHART]
and companion Sue DAINE, Athens, Roger [GEARHART] and wife Janet, Akron, Larry

MITCHELL, 63, 602 Northgate Circle, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday at Howard
Community Hospital, Kokomo.
Born in
Kokomo, to Robert E. and Gwen MITCHELL, he came to Rochester from Kokomo in
1970.
Mr.
Mitchell retired from the maintenance department at Rochester Metal Products in
1996 after 20 years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 852,
Rochester, and was a Kokomo High School graduate.
Survivors
include one daughter, Valerie L. CARTER and husband Christopher, Martinez, Ga.;
one son, Jonathon D. MITCHELL and wife LaDonna, Rochester; three grandchildren,
Jasmine M. HUGHES, Georgia, and Joshua and Lindsay MITCHELL, both of Rochester.

in death were his parents, one sister, Kaye WILEY, and one brother, Michael
MITCHELL.

Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Born in
Mentone to Lot D. and Sarah JOHNSON ELLSWORTH, she married Glenn SECRIST in
1936. He died in 1968. She married William SCOTT in 1973. He died in 1982. She
married Glenn DANNER July 20, 1985. He died in November, 1998.
Mrs.
Danner moved to Bourbon from Mentone in 1973. She was a homemaker and worked at
Cooper’s Dime Store, Mentone. She was a member of Bourbon First United
Methodist Church, Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary and the Town and Country
Home Economics Club.
Survivors
include three daughters, Glenda McFARLAND, Ellen ELLIOTT and Serita WORKMAN,
all of Bourbon; four sons, Jerry SECRIST and wife Mary and Ronald SECRIST and
wife Dixie, all of Mentone, Larry SECRIST and wife Jean, Syracuse, and Steven
SECRIST and wife Donita, Livingston, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 11
stepgrandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

in death with her husbands were her parents, four sisters, Marie WORKMAN, Mary
SARBER, Leota REINHOLTZ and Betty FLORY, and one brother, John ELLSWORTH.

at her home.

Rochester to Carl B. and Alice LOWE NEWCOMB, she married Roger W. SMITH on May
15, 1957, in Culver. He died Dec. 30, 1993.
Mrs.
Smith was a graduate of Rochester High School and Purdue University’s School of
Pharmacy. She was owner and president for 42 years of W.R. Smith Drug Stores
and Smith Surgical Supply, both of Peoria, Ill. She attended Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Peoria, Ill.
Surviving
are four daughters, Cindi WEBB and husband Joe, Deer Creek, Ill., Lynne SEILER
and husband T.J., Peg SMITH, and Kathryn CONNER and husband Bill, all of
Peoria; one sister, Joanne NEWCOMB BENDALL, Rochester; six grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.

Hamden, Ohio, to Earl and Myrtle BRADLEY RAY, he married Sally ROBINSON Feb.
28, 1959, in Crown Point. She survives.
Mr. Ray
was a union millwright for 48 years, retiring in 1992. He attended Gospel Hill
Pentecostal Church, Silver Lake. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are three daughters, Debbie SPOOR and husband Randy,
Plymouth, Donna STILES and husband Jamie, Goose Creek, S.C., and Cheri HUNT and
husband Don, Argos; three sons, Steve and John [RAY], both of Argos, and Tim
[RAY], Plymouth; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nieces and one
nephew.

Collins was an automobile salesman. He was a member of Victory Tabernacle,
Indian Mound, Tenn., and he enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.

Clarksville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; five brothers, Gerald HARDIN Jr. and Dan
HARDIN, both of Crown Point, Mike HARDIN, Demotte, John HARDIN, Valparaiso, and
Deon HARDIN, Indiana; five sisters, Mary KANDLESTOFER and Wilma McLAUCHLAN,

Born in
Richmond, Calif., to Roy MADEEN and Vina GEHRKE MADEEN MEYER, she was raised by
her stepfather Ernest MEYER. She married O.C. BUTT March 25, 1947, in Lomita,
Calif. He died June 26, 1971.
Mrs. Butt
was a nursing assistant at several nursing homes in the Dundee, Ill., area. She
came to Rochester from South Bend in 2001.
Survivors
include one daughter, Nancy BRASSEUR and husband Albert, South Bend; two sons,
Alan [BUTT] and wife Lisa, Granger, and William [BUTT], Syracuse; three
grandchildren, Julie and A.J. BRASSEUR, both of South Bend, and Kyle BUTT,
Haskell, Okla.

in death with her husband were her parents and her stepfather.

services will be held Saturday in Dundee, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials

K. BENNETT, 70, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at his Warsaw residence.
Born in
Kosciusko County to Leroy and Ruth GOODMAN BENNETT, he married Phyllis BOYER
Aug. 25, 1956. She survives.
Mr.
Bennett was a carpenter. He graduated from Burket High School and served in the
U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars and American Legion, both of Warsaw.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are one daughter, Debra HERBERT and husband Brent,
Bright; one grandson, Lucas HERBERT, Bright; two brothers, Eugene and Donald
BENNETT, both of Etna Green; one sister, Edna Marie MOCK, Syracuse.
Preceding
in death was one brother.
Graveside
services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mentone Cemetery with Rev. Thomas E.
EVERETT officiating. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of
Warsaw, will conduct military rites. No visitation is planned. King Memorial
Home, Mentone, is in charge of arrangements.

PRATT, 71, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at his Boswell residence.
Born in
Boswell to Lonnie and Florence BROWN PRATT, he married Frances SMITH in 1956 in
Lafayette. She survives.
Mr. Pratt
attended Boswell and Lafayette Jefferson high schools. He worked at Moews Seed
Corn, Boswell, and Peerless Wire, Lafayette. He was a member and past commander
of Boswell American Legion Post 476, Fowler American Legion Post 57, Fowler
Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lafayette VFW, where he was in the Combat
Infantrymen’s Association, and the 40 & 8 Club 755, Fowler. He served in
the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

with his wife, at home, are three daughters, Gwen MUSE and husband Ralph,
Rochester, Linda CRISWELL and husband Ron, Lafayette, Bonnie STURGEON, Boswell;
one son, Bob [PRATT] and wife Pam, Fowler; five grandchildren, Tony MUSE,

Newland, Jasper County, to John and June WHITAKER BRADLEY, he married Barbara
Ellen HOLLOWAY June 6, 1954, in Rochester. She survives.
Mr.
Bradley lived in Rochester most of his life. He owned and operated Bradley
Plumbing and Heating, Rochester, until selling the business to his son, Dale,
in 1998. He was a member of First Church of God, Rochester, where he was in the
Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group and served as a trustee. He served in the U.S.
Marines during the Korean War.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are two daughters, Cynthia BRADLEY, Rochester, and
Cheryl McCULLOUGH, Kissimmee, Fla.; two sons, Glen A. “Jake” [BRADLEY] and wife
Jennie and Dale BRADLEY, all of Rochester; eight grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean GOODMAN and husband Robert, Rochester;
one niece and two nephews.

Kankakee County Senior Citizens. She was a member of Peotone United Methodist
Church, where she was in the choir and bell choir, several church committees
and past president of the Ladies’ Aid Society.

for several years at Teel’s Restaurant, Mentone. She was also a member of the
Mentone United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and the Jolly
James. She was also in the WSCS of the Church.
Surviving
are one daughter, Cynthia LEEPER and husband Dennis, Bremen, one granddaughter,
Monica LEEPER, Brownsburg, and two sisters, Margaret FAWLEY, Burbon, and Mary
LYONS, Waynesboro, Virginia.

graduated in 1935 from Angola High School and earned a master’s degree from
Purdue University.

with his wife, at home, are one daughter, Anne WRIGHT and husband Dave,
Brownsburg; one son, John [WICOFF] and wife Lyndal, Mishawaka; several nieces
and nephews.

253, North Webster, the National Rifle Association and the U.S. Navy Memorial.

10, 1933 in Lynn. He survives. They moved from Sharpsville to Rochester in
1972.
She
retired in 1984 from Woodlawn Hospital’s food services. She was a member of
Sharpsville United Methodist Church, Republican Women’s Club, Retired Senior
Volunteer Program and AARP. She played the violin, saxaphone and piano and
enjoyed crafts, cooking and working with plastic canvas.
Surviving
with her husband is one son, Dennis [PRICE], and wife Junette, Rochester; two
granddaughters, Gail PRICE, and Lesley KRISHER and husband Chad, Rochester; one
grandson, Jason PRICE, Rochester; and one great-grandson, Joshua N. PRICE,
Rochester. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin and Kenneth FUDGE.

a Baptist minister and was fleet service manager for Navistar International
Transportation Corp., Fort Wayne. He was a 1953 graduate of Dry Ridge High
School, Dry Ridge, Ky., and received an associate’s degree from Boyce Bible
School in 1995. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, Homestead, Fla.,
and the Navistar Retirement Group.

teacher, she taught in Fulton and LaPorte for 23 years. She was a member of
First Baptist Church, Corona, Calif., American Association University of Women
and Indiana State Teachers Association. She attended Manchester and Bethel
Colleges in Indiana.
Surviving
with her husband is one daughter, Dianne COOK, Corona, Calif.; one son, James
[COOK], and wife Shelia, Jefferson City, Missouri; one granddaughter. She was
preceded in death by parents, one sister, Jean [BABCOCK]; and one brother,
James A. [BABCOCK].
Graveside
service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rochester IOOF Cemetery with Dr. Mark
SPENCER officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made

Andre ERIKS, 66, 610 W. 375 North, Rochester, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Carmel. He had been in failing health for the
past six years.
Born in
DeMotte to Andrew and Winifred KATS ERIKS, he married Patricia J. WRIGHT Sept.
28, 1957, at Lansing Bible Church, Lansing. Ill. She survives.
He lived
in the Fulton County area since 1972, coming from Lowell. He was reared in
Lansing, Ill.
He had
owned and operated dairy farms in the Rochester and Akron areas and was a heavy
equipment operator for the Operator and Engineers Union Local 150. He served in
the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He was a member of the Leroy Shelton American
Legion Post 36, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lake Manitou Post and the Fraternal
Order of the Eagles 852, all of Rochester.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are five daughters, Jackie L. POWLEN and husband Jay,
Kewanna, Gwen LEE and companion Gilbert LEE, Deborah L. KUCHEL and husband
Brett, Teri L. UTTER and husband Rick, all of Rochester, Jennifer W. ERIKS and
companion Michael KIMBLE, Kewanna; two sons, Robert A. ERIKS and wife Rose,

great-grandchildren; a sister, Winette JOHNSON and husband Jim, Rochester; a

He was
preceded by his parents, an infant brother and infant granddaughter, Gwyn ERIKS
in 1991.

Culver to William J. and Daisy OYLER MYERS, he married Sylvia Irene POLLEY on
Sept. 17, 1931 in Culver.
He moved
from Rochester in 1938. He attended Rutland School and additional studies in
the field of electronics. He first worked at Black and Bailey Hardware,
Rochester, then Montgomery Ward, Plymouth, and John Meck Industries and Bendix
Corp., South Bend, where he invented and improved production parts. He most
recently worked at Hammel Motors.
He
operated Myers Appliance Sales and Service, Plymouth, and enjoyed electronics
and vintage radios. He was a member of the Indiana Historical Radio Society and
Marshall and Fulton counties historical societies. He attended Rochester First
Church of God and Plymouth Wesleyan Church.
Survivors
include his wife; three daughters, Joyce E. PARSONS and husband Max Wayne,
North Liberty; Janet L. BIXEL, Argos, and Judith A. BROWN and husband George,
Punta Gorda, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five
great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter,
Betty Jean MYERS, a sister, Edna PAQUETTE, and two brothers, Clarence and
Milburn MYERS.

resident of Lakeland, Fla., she enjoyed the beach and ocean and remained a
fervent Indiana University basketball fan. She was a graduate of Indiana
University.

man, civic leader Smith dies
Wayne
SMITH, prominent civic leader and patriarch of Smith Sawyer Smith Insurance,
died at his Lake Manitou home Friday.
Smith,
80, joined the Haskett and Jones Insurance Agency in 1949, and built it into
one of the area’s leaders. It is now
Smith Sawyer and Smith, where two of his three sons, Mart and Ron, [SMITH] his
son-in-law, Jack SAWYER, and two grandchildren work.
Smith was
involved in various community service and athletic organizations.
He was a
past Rochester Chamber of Commerce president, past president and district
director of Lions International and former 4-H Fair Board member. He helped form and charter the Fulton County
United Way.
He was a
33rd Degree Mason and longtime Republican Party supporter.
He
coached yourh baseball and basketball and was a high school and college
basketball official throughout the north past of the state.
He served
in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Afterwards, he attended Manchester College, an institution he was to
support for the rest of his life. He
and his wife, Virginia [SMITH], established a college scholarship fund for
Fulton County students attending the college.
Manchester
College recognized his gifts by naming the entrance gate to its outdoor
athletic facilities for him.
Smith
billed himself a poor farm boy from Macy when accepting the 1991 Community
Service Award from the Rochester and Lake Manitou Chamber of Commerce.
“My
utmost hope is to be able to, as a family and person, give back to the
community the fulfillment and enjoyment I’ve had as part of the community,” he
said during that awards ceremony. “I
think this community is just the berries of a place to live.”
His son,
Ron, received the Chamber service award last month. His son, Mart, has been president of the Rochester School Board
for more than a decade. His daughter,
Sandy [SAWYER], is a past president of the Fulton County Library board of
trustees. His son, Terry [SMITH], built
Rock Hollow Golf Course near Peru and is active in community affairs there.
R. Wayne
SMITH, 80, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday at his 2009 Bessmore Park Road residence.
Born in
Miami County to Benjamin and Emma WARD SMITH, he married Virginia V. BRYANT in
January 1940. She survives.
Mr. Smith,
a 1949 Manchester College graduate, joined Haskett and Jones Insurance Agency,
now Smith, Sawyer & Smith Insurance in 1949 and moved to Rochester in 1953.
Active in civic affairs throughout his career, he was president and district
director of Lions International, president of Rochester Chamber of Commerce,
received the Community Service Award in 1991, coached American Legion baseball,
Buttermilk Bob’s basketball team and officiated high school and college
basketball throughout northern Indiana 20 years. He was a member of Grace
United Methodist Church, Elks, Moose and Eagles lodges and the American Legion,
all of Rochester, Lincoln Masonic Lodge, Macy, Orak and Mizpah Shrine and was a
33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a Manchester College trustee and a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed Masonic work, raising horses, golf,
bridge and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

School graduate and attended business college in Chicago.
She was a
clerk, agent and underwriter, among other jobs, at All State Insurance, which
was in business only two years when she began. As promotions came and the
company grew, she moved from Chicago to Philadelphia, to New York and back to
Indianapolis for 15 years before retiring in 1975. She attended Catholic
church.

include one brother, Charlie and wife Betty, MURTAUGH, Idaho; adopted sister,
Ruthie SHAFFER, Rochester; four nieces, Nancy WERNER, Carmel, Barbara PELL and
Merle, Lapel, Marigene STONE and husband Stephen, Monroe, Mich., Trudy HANEY,
Akron; two nephews, Terry TROUTMAN and wife Darlene, Kewanna, Tim TROUTMAN,

Bensenville, Ill., and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Rochester, Women’s Auxiliary of the Eagles Lodge 852 and was a lover of
animals, a sports car enthusiast and was actively involved with political
issues.

1956, in North Manchester. She survives.
Mr.
Schipper retired in 1999 from E&B Paving, Rochester, where he was a heavy
equipment operator. He was a member of Wabash Hanna Masonic Lodge and
International Union of Operating Engineers 103, Kokomo. He was owner and
operator of Schipper Asphalt Sealing, Wabash, and worked for McMahon O’Connor
Construction, Rochester. He was involved in construction more than 40 years.

Mrs.
Mitchell was a Plymouth, Tyner and Rochester resident all of her life. She attended Tyner and Teegarden schools and
graduated from Lincoln High School, Plymouth, with the class of 1942. She worked at Morris Dime Store 10 years and
in Lord’s Dress Shop for four years, both businesses in Plymouth.
She
enjoyed playing the guitar, organ and piano.
She was a member of Blissful Church of the Brethren. She will be remembered for her devotion and
love for her family. Her family was
everything to her. She loved being with
them and always wanted her grandchildren around her.
Surviving
with her husband of 60 years are two daughters, Connie Lou MITCHELL, Rochester,
and Sharon K. WILLYERD and husband Ed, Lakeland, Fla.; one son, Monte D.
MITCHELL, Rochester; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one
sister, Lelah L. HENDRY, North Manchester.

United Methodist Women, both of Rochester, and she and her late husband had
been very active in the former Akron Jonah Club, where she was a member more
than 20 years. She was a Rochester resident for 70 years, coming from Kokomo.

heart problems.

Plymouth to Arnold M. Sr. and Dorothy R. REYNOLDS RHOADS, she graduated from
Plymouth High School in 1975.
She was a
cook at the highly regarded Grandma’s Kitchen, Argos, for approximately two
years. Previously, she had worked for more than 10 years at Ristance, Argos.
She was a dedicated mother and enjoyed baking, making many goodies for her
family and friends. Her specialties were cinnamon rolls and crescent rolls, hot
out of the oven. She liked watching movies and spending as much time as
possible with her children, playing games and having good times.
She was a
long-time member of Tiosa Brethren Church. In Plymouth she attended
Plymouth Baptist Church.
She is
survived by one daughter, Ashley PRITCHETT, Roch-ester, and one son,
Christopher GILES, Argos; two brothers, Arnold M. RHOADS and wife Pat,
Plymouth, and Dennis A. RHOADS and wife Amy, South Bend; one sister, Mary Ellen
ROBERTSON, Wellsley, Mass.; one aunt, Winnie POWELL, Naples, Fla.; and seven
nieces and nephews and two cousins.

“Steve” MILLISER, 81, 2354 Westside Dr., died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Life Care
Center, Rochester.
Born in
Fulton County to Surph and Cora BRUCE MILLISER, he married Madge CARR on Jan.
31, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church, Rochester. She survives.
Mr.
Milliser worked for Nickel Plate Railroad and was a carpenter. He was a U.S.
Marine Corp. veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific
Theater as a gunner aboard a B-24. He
was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Manitou Moose Lodge and
American Legion, all of Rochester.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are one son, John [MILLISER] and wife Linda, Rochester;
two granddaughters, Amy MILLER and husband Gavin, Goshen, and Andrea MILLISER,
Rochester.

in death were his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Services
are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with
Rev. Joseph JACOB officiating. Burial will be at Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Peavody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
Born Jan.
25, 1918, to Anthony and Aleda LUCASSEN PETERS in Didam, Netherlands, he
married Johanna R. MENTING, on April 27, 1949 at Keynbord, Netherlands. She survives at home.
He moved
to this area in 1949 from the Netherlands.
He was a dairy farmer. He was a
member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, and the Moose Lodge. He was with the Dutch Cavalry. He became a United States citizen in 1954.
Survivors
include three daughters, Mrs. Ted (Mary) SHOEMAKER, North Webster; Mrs. Rich
(Eileen) BRADFORD, North Manchester, and Mrs. Fritz (Diana) MILLER, Madison,
Wisconsin; four sons, Anthony G. PETERS, Chester, W Va., Gary PETERS,
Indianapolis, Darryl and wife Deb PETERS, Warsaw, Ronald J. PETERS, Warsaw;
fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann CORNELESEN,
Didam, Netherlands; two brothers, Gerrit and Antoon PETERS, both of Didam,
Netherlands. He was preceded in death
by two sisters and two brothers.

a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw with Monsignor James J. WOLF officiating. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at King

Warsaw to Thomas B. and Hilda Irene JAMES BUSKIRK, he married Patricia OLSON
ROGERS July 13, 1999, in Warsaw. She survives.
Mr.
Buskirk, a lifetime Warsaw resident, was a real estate investor, broker and
auctioneer. He was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church. He served in
the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958.
Surviving
with his wife, at home, are two stepdaughters, Debra NIELSON and husband Len,
Winona Lake, Denise Lynn ROGERS, Arcadia; one stepson, David Michael ROGERS,
Leesburg; one sister, Becki DAVIS and husband Stephen, Leesburg; three
stepgrandchildren.

are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home, 2290 Provident Court,
Warsaw, with Rev. Bob BROWN officiating. Burial will be at Leesburg Cemetery.

Born in
Richmond to Warren and Ella Mae OWENS VAYETT, she married Albert W. HOLLAND
July 25, 1933, in Logansport. He preceded her in death.
Mrs.
Holland was a Macy resident for 46 years, moving to Deedsville for 17 years and
then to Peru. She was a member of Macy United Methodist Church and New Life
Praise and Worship Center, Peru. She worked at Essex Wire, Peru, and retired
from Chamberlin’s, Akron, in 1979. She was also a care giver.
