Kids Place
Our Mission:
Sharing the love of books with children of all ages
through programming, book selection and service.
Programming:
Partners in Education is a community effort to team businesses and organizations with classes in the local schools. The Children’s Department coordinates participation in this activity with other areas of the library. The Fulton County Public Library is teamed up with a 1st Grade Class at Columbia School. A member of the library staff makes a monthly visit to the class and they talk about what they do at the library, and what their favorite books and activities are.
Head Start visits are once a month in Rochester and once at the Akron site. Learn more about Head Start at their web site www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ohs
The After School Program is provided for Columbia Elementary School each Friday afternoon at 4 PM. Stories are read to the children who wait for their working parents to pick them up after school.
Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program (SRP) is an annual reading program that encourages children to read during their summer break from school. It begins first part of June and runs through the third full week of July. This program is a family (caregiver) oriented program and is open to all age groups of our community. There are activities and crafts each week for all participants, their family and friends.
